Lots of hatred/Dislike for Victor Orta on here again this week and a lot of it is deserved. However I’m going to use a word rarely used on this board; “Nuanced” my own view is that he isn’t well liked within the 49ers and will probably leave when the TO is completed. He is wanted by clubs in Germany, Italy and of course Spain, he will accept a good job to walk into whatever happens. He should also be classed as a ‘legend’ because if Klich and Co are given the accolade then so it must follow that the man who gave us these players and Marcelo Bielsa, is also responsible for stopping 20 years of hurt. Orta's work cannot be judged solely on the Jean-Kevin Augustins, no more than it can his Raphinhas. There have been flops and diamonds, over-priced additions and bargains. And even when it comes to the individual transfers he has and has not brought to completion, there are mitigating factors that often evade the debate, like the influence of a head coach or the financial limitations of an ownership group. There are signings that can't really be shoehorned into the good or bad categories because the jury remains out. There are signings who don't appear to have been the wisest of additions and yet they still retain value. Take Rodrigo. The evidence so far does not prove that £27m was the fair price Orta claimed at the time, and the forward is still yet to convince everyone he's the right man to lead the attack 82 league and cup games into his time at Leeds mostly as a midfielder, but he's got 13 goals this season in league and cup, 8 of which were the difference between no points, one point or all three. And if you point the finger of blame at Orta for spending too much on Rodrigo, or Dan James, you also have to acknowledge that Pascal Struijk cost nothing to bring in from Ajax and that Illan Meslier set Leeds back just £5m. Willie Gnonto only £4m is a steal. Orta's work is not black and white and it's not all rainbows - but he has never claimed an ability to get each and every signing right. Any director of football will come in for some criticism when a squad's deficiencies show up under pressure, as Leeds' have already this season, and a reasonable critique will note the net spend he had to work with and the fact that had Orta been holding the purse strings and not simply the shopping list, then a forward and, most probably, a left-back would have been added when they were needed. The serious ambition can also be seen as he chased CDK, Cody Gakpo etc, he only wanted the best for the club. The thing that stopped these and other transfers from happening was that we were nowhere near good enough for European football, he was over ambitious but not a crime. If Orta’s biggest success was Bielsa then for me Jesse Marsch was his biggest mistake. Firstly how can you say that 2 years watching him to ensure he is the logical coach to take over from Bielsa. Secondly convincing the board to give him longer and then having to sack him late which made sure we couldn’t get in a replacement. Today is the last day Leeds Utd have to ensure the financial accounts are filed with companies house. Hearing that the Premier League have audited them and we will be disclosing a loss of £172m compared to a small surplus in the previous accounts which was really because Radz didn’t call in a £20m loan. There are 9 clubs in the prem due to post their financials and guess what they are mainly down the bottom of the league except for Brentford and Fulham who both invested heavily. Everton should be in ****screek when they post theirs. Our losses not helped by Daniel James, Junior Firpo, Kristoffer Klaesson, and Jack Harrison – who spent the previous three seasons on loan at Elland Road – all joined the club permanently for a combined total of close to £60m during the financial year. One thing to remember is that on top of the £110m cash we get for being in the prem we have revenues for extra tv coverage over and above and for every league position you get £3.5m this season. So season before last we earned a shed load more as we finished 9th. This dropped last season as we ended up 17th, so let’s hope we improve on that this season by a few places for example an extra £11.5m by finishing 14th. We also have very good sponsorship deals too. Some shyt coming out that Abramovitch had secretly funded Vitesse Arnhem to the tune of €170m, naughty. And the new Chelsea owner hasn’t done what he said he would do when buying the club, the agreement was that a lot of cash was supposed to go to Ukrainian charities but a technicality means he couldn’t do it, mmm apparently the banks froze Abramovitch accounts and the government didn’t sequester the cash. Led by donkeys…
Ahaha BBC now stating Vincent Company in the running for Spurs job. West Ham will sack Moyes irrespective of what happens this season, he is sacked at the end of the season. Leeds Utd will employ Patrick Viera as new Head Coach. The BBC is a pile of shyte
So what this Everton stuff means is they will have sanctions imposed in probably two seasons or might even do a villa and get away with it. City are the club that need making an example of but won’t happen either
Is he the lad Klich said was as good as him? We always overvalue or players it seems. They're worth what someones willing to pay same as anything else
Did he ever play a first team game? If not it’s possibly about right and how long did he have left on his contract?
