Good Morning. It's Friday 31st March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Koch will decide his future during Summer break During a recent interview with German media outlet 'Spox' Robin Koch refused to be drawn, regarding speculation linking him away from Elland Road this Summer, insisting he wants to remain focused on the task at hand. The 26yo has just over twelve months of his four year contract remaining, and could leave this Summer for far less than his true value, if he doesn't extend his current deal. Refusing to comment on his long future doesn't bode well. He reveals that tentative talks are underway, but uses the excuse of having to focus on the relegation battle. Spurs, Newcastle, and a host of top Bundesliga clubs are interested in his services, with a fee of around £11m being banded around (due to the length of his contract). "During the season, I want to distract myself as little as possible with future planning," "Initial talks are currently underway between the club and my agent. "Towards the end of the season, and during the summer break, I will deal with it." "Now, my focus is 100 per cent on our games and goals. I’m convinced that we will not be relegated. The position in the table doesn’t reflect our performance. We play a lot of good games, but we forget to score." please log in to view this image Will Leeds lose their best players this Summer After two seasons of desperately trying to keep their heads above water, the players at Elland Road would be forgiven for questioning the clubs lack of ambition. Your average top flight footballer isn't that difficult to work out. They want to earn a lot of money, be successful, and play for their Country. Unfortunately for Leeds, one out of three isn't going to cut it. A case in point is Robin Koch. His performances for Leeds have (on the whole) been good, but he continues to be ignored by Hansi Flick, at least partly because of Leeds perilous position. It's fair to say that Diego Llorente is a fringe player. By offering him such a lucrative long term deal, his team mates must surely be questioning Leeds ambition, and secondly a pay rise of their own. please log in to view this image Bookies predict Leeds safety as odds widen Southampton (4/11), Bournemouth 8/13) and Nottingham Forest (1/1) are firm favourites for the drop according to new odds from Leading bookmakers Bet365. With 11 games and 33 points up for grabs, there's still all to play for between now and the visit of Spurs. Everton are next at 13/8; then Leeds and Wolves at 3/1. Leicester City and West Ham are both 4/1. Who would you like to see get relegated from the clubs at the wrong end of the table? please log in to view this image
Morning all. Of course there will be an exodus at end of season. Any player worth his salt should be ambitious, the club is not so what choice have they. So it'll likely be another rebuild with the remains of the Championship players staying on. Just got to hope we get ambitious new owners, wanting to challenge for European football and capable of bank rolling it. Maybe next season instead of a 45m bonus for finishing fourth from bottom, a similar bonus should be offered for a top eight finish
No exodus as contracts say no. If anyone wants to stump up the big bucks like last summer for Raph & KP then obviously we'll think about it. Oh and in case you haven't noticed 9 other PL clubs are in the same boat as us and are all their players going to wish to leave as well ? Morning by the way
Every PL club refreshes their squad each summer and it's quite normal that one or two leave to make way for the the new signings. At Leeds though it's always an impending disaster according to some fans
Refresh means get rid of excess baggage and bring in better players, not give big contracts to fringe players and sell the better ones. But hey ho, some fans are happy to languish in a relegation battle every season. Suppose its whatever rocks your boat
I'd love Everton to go down. After that I'm not too bothered so long as it's not us. Forest could be interesting financially if they went down. They could go out of business. I'm not saying I dislike them really, just that it would be interesting to see them attempt to balance the books.
Don’t care who goes down as long as it isn’t us. But it would be funny if it was Everton. As for Koch leaving? He’s good on the ball, but average defensively in this league. Think he’d probably look decent in another league so might be best for him.
I think if we stay up the club is sold to the 49ers and there will be a big mud out of fringe players and a couple of top signings coming in. I think the players will see a new ambition and plan. However a lot will go if we go down
My first thought was I don't care who goes down as long as it isn't us. Then on thinking about it. Everton- met a lot of fans from other top clubs, when we were in the doldrums, including man utd, who all mostly said they wanted Leeds back in the prem, all except Everton fans, well the ones I met anyway, no we don't want you back, ****er fans etc , infact it got a bit heated with one of them on a campsite in France. Forest- had a dislike of these since the 70's, East Midlands teams fans, all seem a little thick, these not as thick as Derby, no one is, but near enough. Wolves- I know so many of their fans the piss taking would be brilliant, met one last Saturday, a lad I've known nearly 50 years and first thing he did was cry about the game the other week, didn't help his mood, when I just laughed in his face , then just said, you lost to a better team you bunch of whinge bags.
chucking the strikers under the bus Can’t argue with the statement but we have also regularly ‘forgotten to defend’ too. Maybe he’s blanked those moments from his memory. Another professional in the game added to the list of those that feel our performances have deserved better. But forgetting to score, all the manager’s fault innit
Listened to Harrison Reid on the radio yesterday saying how Dan James is by far the quickest at the club, not just a little bit quicker but absolutely streets ahead. That information just confirmed my view that we really should be finding a role for DJ in our squad, especially as these days it's a 16 man game. Wouldn't you like to have that pace helping Firpo and/or Ayling out tomorrow against Saka, Martinelli & Trossard ?
Dan James would be super handy to have against Arsenal. That would mean we could rest some of our good players for the Forest game on Tuesday.
…. you thinking Javi will go with the park the bus and try and nick one on the break strategy? Rather than going full Jesse to disrupt them and put them on the back foot?
