I saw Mott The Hoople a couple of times in their heyday. On one of the tours they had a little known band called Queen as the support.
The tour of the US with MtH was the one and only time Queen ever played as support act - they certainly had a meteoric rise to fame.
Aye... "... down in the city, just Hoople and me... " - (about 2:30 in)... Tribute for Freddie Mercury by a few of his old pals... Life goes on... Hunter's tribute to Bowie...
I'm off to see my teen idol tonight at Welly. Pete Doherty. I also saw Shed Seven acoustic show at Welly on Good Friday. Absolutely brilliant.
It really was. I met the guy off his tits on stage in the toilet before the gig and he recognised me from National Ave driving range
It was all very chaotic. He’d play a song, stop half way, and break into story. One of the support acts was off his face, joined Pete for a song, then got escorted off. Some random guy in the crowd joined him for a song only to then get booted off stage for over egging it. Various technical issues, his dogs joined him on the stage, his mum was in the crowd, and various stories about the clientele in the Banks Harbour. That said, Pete looked relatively healthy.
The Master. Me and a mate saw his concert at Cecil 1968/69? Met him afterwards and was a gent, so pleased i'd shook the Master;s hand.
You ever heard his tapes on you tube slagging his band off rover? Funny as The band were that sick of him one started recording his rants Lot of a **** tbh Jerry Seinfeld used it for some of his act This guy….
I'll look for them Chazz, heard he was an hard taskmaster but he produced the goods so expected his band too.
