Kempton 19.30 Mount Athos is top rated by 2lb (with a "p"° and is 10/11 fav. He did win over CD on his final run last year, in a fast time. Clearly if he can progress from that, as indicated by the "p", he is entitled to be odds on. But this is his first run this year. He might be primed to win first time out; he might not. Given that some of these have run at a higher level than the fav, and Dubai Station (2 runs already and winner last time out) is stepping up to 7f for the first time 7/1 and above the rest seems a bit over the top to me. If Mount Athos had had a run this year and showed he is at least as good as last year, I would have had him down as a banker. If he shortens any more that could indicate he is well prepared for the run but, at those odds, I wouldn't be in a hurry to back him. If anything I would be looking to lay him with a view to backing him at better odds tomorrow.
In the first at lingfield the heavy raced 3yrold misterx caught my eye , well bred capote on the dam side , sire side is profitable and invincible spirit . Catton boasts a c/d in the plate lto and they are only 1lb worse off for that . I turned my nose up ut 9/2 last night but the drift and bog with 3 places to 14s with wh is just to big to ignore . As Sticks better half would say the horse doesnt know the odds . Also it is strange that lto the fav today was a non runner in the win at c/d lto when misterx won.
So, just to recap. No good at doubles, no good at lays. Just needs my wheelbarrow job to lose (whenever that might be) and I can consider myself ****ing useless and leave it to the experts
