Good Morning. It's Tuesday 28th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Could Gyokeres be on his way to Elland Road

With promotion unlikely, Coventry City have all but given up hope of keeping star striker Victor Gyokeres beyond the Summer, prompting speculation that Leeds and several other top flight are preparing to swoop. The Swedish International, has been on Victor Orta's radar for a while, and with just over a year left on his contract, is destined for top flight football.

With 21 goals (from all competitions) and nine assists so far this season, the 24yo has become one of the stand-out talents in the Championship. He signed from Brighton in the Summer of 2021, after a successful loan period, for just £1m. Even with his shortened contract, he is still expected to fetch £15m, though obviously Coventry want more.

Should Leeds keep Bamford if they can't command a decent fee for him?

With 21 goals and 12 assists in 66 top flight appearances, there is no doubt that Patrick Bamford possesses the natural striking ability to play at the highest level, but with age, and injuries catching up with him, it's difficult to see he has a long term future at Elland Road.

Leeds have struggled to keep their heads above water over the last few seasons; and can't afford any stragglers. Football is no longer a game of sentiment; it's a business, and as such, can't afford to let emotion get in the way.

Whilst four goals in almost two seasons doesn't tell the full story, Leeds must be ruthless this Summer, and make difficult decisions if they are to change their fortunes. The long term damage inflicted by over a decade of football has well and truly taken its toll, and as such any fee Leeds receive will be negliable. If Leeds can't get a decent fee, would they be better off keeping him or letting him go for nothing?

    What next for Arronson

When Jesse Marsch received his marching orders early February, many feared for the future of fellow compatriot Brendan Arronson. The 22yo had been on a downward slide, since returning from World Cup duties at Christmas, and confidence was low.

He lost his place in the Leeds starting line up, and looked destined to finish the season on the bench; that is, until Javi Gracia turned up. Under the Spaniard, Arronson seems to have rediscovered his mojo, and has helped his side gather seven valuable points for their last four games, all of which Arronson has started.

Following his strong performance the othr night for the Stars and Stripes, former USA player, turned pundit Herculez Gomez was quoted as saying:-

“That’s a good one for Brenden Aaronson because he desperately needed a good showing,” “He was one of the most productive players in the lead-up to the World Cup. We used to call him Mr Futbol Americas. Mr Running back because he would constantly show up with goals and assists in our programme. “About the time he went to Leeds, and he was about to go to the World Cup, everything started going south for him. He gets injured, then he starts playing with the reserve side and then he is coming in off the bench."

“Then when he is coming in, his team are giving up leads. They are giving up goals. It’s been a situation that has been kind of rough. The man who brought him there, Jesse Marsch, gets fired, it has been a lot of change for Brenden Aaronson. He desperately needed a strong showing.”

Need another striker but squad is too small to let someone like Bamford go. Still brings a lot to the team. One or two injuries and we’ve not got the depth.

Bamford will stay as no one will pay him the wages Leeds are doing. He can just do more of the same till his contract ends.

McKennie getting rave reviews for his performances for USA an 8.5 MoM performance and also Aaronson doing really well. I believe these 2 plus Adams will see us over the line. Aaronson at times seems lightweight but I believe Gracia can see what he’s got and will work with him.

Bamford isn’t a natural goalscorer as was mentioned in the OP. And for me he has been the main reason we have been in trouble for the last 2 seasons. We put our eggs in the Paddy basket and they never hatched. He hasnt played and isn’t fully fit and he’s a liability. I would much prefer to see Rodrigo followed by Georginio and even Joseph as the posh lad has fooked me off. He will only be bought by a championship club with ambition for promotion

Morning all. Bamford's situation will likely depend on two factors. What division were in next year and who the owners are. As Wakey said nobody going to match the insane wages he's on (well done you know who yet again) so if we manage to move him well be heavily subsidising the move. If current owners are still in place, Id expect them to keep him on messing about for another season. If we get new owners and were in pl I would hope he'd play no part in next seasons plans. If he's still about then were still showing no ambition. Hoping for some positive injury news from the Arsenal presser later in week regarding injuries. Well surely have some idea of timescales by then

Rumours of surgery but who knows if it's true. Time for weston and darko to step up.. Especially Darko as he stood out for England in his age group.

    Afternoon all

Impossible to call regarding who we should or will sign or who we should keep or not whilst we are still in the danger zone. Assuming we stay up the first big decision is do we give Gracia the job on an extended basis or do we bring someone else in.

The next decision is do we continue with the current DOF and either way, do we learn lessons and start allowing the DOF to bring in players and work on providing continuity should the coach not work.

If we are going to continue bringing in targets of the coach who is in charge then it will be even harder to call. If we survive for another season in the PL the usual rumours will start, Noa Lang, Nandez and Traore heading the list

Roca might just excel in Adams absence. We now play with two wide men when we attack and Roca certainly has the ability for those 30 to 40 yard pings out to wingers.

So we could be without Adams, Wober and Gnonto v Arsenal. Oh and I’m not looking forward to the match up between Firpo and Saka.
