Yeah it wasnt until after the rollercoaster of emotions were over it became apparent that our misery was their gain. They even had a lass stood behind the interviewer pretending to cry to try and make me and my ex buckle and break down in tears, all for tv.
When we didn't fall for it shed suddenly act normal again

What a brilliant thread this has been, from asking directions...it's took a bit of a new direction.
This is what I love about this place....the posters on it are honest, decent people.
There's some heartbreaking stories, and hopefully, talking about them helps in some way....remember, it's always good to talk.
What makes this place different though, imo, is people listen.

We were living in the accommodation at the back end of the freeman for the month and had a fair few scares on the way. A few midnight calls when the **** hit the fan and the surgeon had to come back in and 'correct' things. ****ing bricking it for a month.

Strangely enough, it's the Grand National that reminds me of it. The nurses and families on there had a sweepstake and we all got involved and tried to make some sort of normality out of it. Just a way of coping with everything I suppose.

    Wow.
That is one of the most emotional things I've ever seen...and you couldn't have picked a better song.
There's some stunning images in there...the baby with his finger in his mouth, the pic of just the baby's hand, the one of all the machines/electronic equipment with a tiny baby next to it....really shows the scale of what is involved to keep a tiny life alive.
I'm so pleased you posted that mate, I found it really humbling, yet very uplifting.
As Tees said, I have no shame in saying I shed a tear to that.

    Our NHS if absolutely fantastic.

Thank you mate. When I found out we were pregnant I bought a decent DSLR camera to take 'proper' photos of him growing up. When we found out about his condition i was still determined to use it and that was one of the shots zooming in to his hand and getting the lines in.
The thing with the machines is not just the amount of them (probably about 20 different meds going in there) but they all beep and make a sound individually if they get blocked, that's why 2 nurses are flying about sorting things out.

Absolute angels they are. We got to know the ones looking after Oliver really well. Still see a few of them when we go for his check ups.

Great vid mate. Dust in the air as it brought back so many memories especially the soft toys in the crib.

nearly 27 years ago my youngest was born 10 weeks prem weighing 2lb 13oz. He still has the small stuffed dog named "Grunter" that has been with him since the day he was born.

My mam wanted to knit him a beanie so used an orangs as a mould but it was too big so she made him another one using a lemon :)

They do some amazing things in neo-nates and very rarely get the recognition they deserve.

They never left the room for virtually their full 15hr shift mate. Couldn't have asked for better care for him.
