I know mate, cost me an arm and a leg too haha. Having twins ive never experienced only having one kid to look after but when i hear lads at work moan about it being hard work having 1 young kid it makes me chuckle.
Feck knows how families with triplets or quadruplets manage.

I really don't mean to sound patronising here...I reckon you're a cracking Dad to them two lads, you absolutely dote on them.

 

My son is 11 on Monday and daughter is 9. They are chalk and cheese. Whatever one of them says yes to, the other one will say no by default. Son is into loads of sports, daughter loves doing arts and crafts. I could be playing footie in the garden with my son then making pom poms with my daughter. Love it when people said "it doesn't make any difference when you have 2 kids compared to 1" what a load of twaddle.

Tees had a nice quiet relaxing day

 

My dad used to take me and my younger brother to Crowtree leisure centre in the early 80s to watch Sunderland basketball team when we were similar ages to your boys. I used to love it back then. Still nearly 40 years later it's a fond memory for me, especially since my dad died 2 years ago.

 

I reckon your scenario must be harder than mine mate having 2 kids only 2 years apart and different sexes?
As babies it was absolutely brutal having twins and my ex was absolutely useless and made any excuse to not have to come home from work to help me with them made it even worse which played a major part in my divorce with her. Respect was totally gone after that .
They went through life at the same stages though and as they get older its slightly easier, so it must have been challenging at times for you

It's not necessarily harder just different. My wife and I went through 3 years of IVF treatment to conceive our son and the docs said we wouldn't have another child naturally without but then our daughter came along.

It's hard, but it's class all the same. Every day is a school day. I know how to do a plat in her hair
I'm just as proud of that as I am when my son scores a goal for his footy team.

 

Mine are the same, boy's into typical lad's stuff and my girl loves crafting. She's got a crafty box and spends hours at a time absorbed with it. They couldn't be more different but there at least 5 minutes in a day when they get on.

 

Mine are 34, 30 (sons) and 22 (daughter).....what I wouldn't give for them to be 11 and 9 again.
Magical times when I look back...I've had make up on the lot.

True story....
When my daughter was about 8, she painted my toe nails. I just indulged her...no one was gonna see them were they! All different colours as well...
Next day I took a funny turn at work, and was taken to Newcastle General. They gave me a once over, which included checking my bare feet! They suspected a mini-stroke, and I was transferred and admitted to the RVI. Yep, they done the same check on my bare feet to see if I responded to them being tickled.
Embarrassment 10/10.

We went through ivf aswell mate. After numerous miscarriages and emotional turmoil we finally got the chance to have it and fortunately my ex fell pregnant on the first cycle.
I had the snip shortly after they were born, having a baby is so much harder than alot of people realise.

We nearly lost my lads at 18 weeks aswell due to twin to twin transfusion. We had a scan at 4pm on a Wed at our local hospital and we were told unless we were at a hospital by 12pm the next day in London for emergency laser surger our babies would die.
We went home in turmoil and somehow managed to make it in time the next day.
We were told we had 33% chance both surviving, 33% chance 1 surviving or 33% chance both dying and we had 4 weeks to know the answer.
I cant even begin to explain the turmoil we went through in that 4 weeks.

 

Daughter has made some lavender soap tonight from a kit she got for Christmas.

We've made these tie die t-shirts as well last month.

We used to just get these things from the shops when I was a kid.... Now I need to know how to make them

That's rough mate, really rough. After our first we had a miscarriage and after that we thought there was no heartbeat with the next one. It turned out there was but it's no picnic. We had it easy compared to a lot of people but it was still tough.

 

It's a roller coaster of an experience (IVF) . I had cancer when I was 18, before I was with our lass and I ended up needing 16 weeks of Chemo which can affect things 'downstairs'. When we got together and then wanted to start a family it wasn't happening so we ended up at the Centre for Life through at Newcastle down next to the Arena. Unbelievable place.

We had medication in the fridge at home to inject and all sorts and went through 2 cycles and a fair bit of heartache. We got lucky on the last cycle and conceived my son. They said there was no chance of us conceiving naturally and then our daughter came along 2 year later so they are obviously clueless

 

Sh#t, so sorry youve experienced the big C mate, but also so glad you have fought it off to be able to tell the tale.


This sounds too far fetched to be true but i swear on my lads life it is.
When we got to London it turned out that the bloke that was doing the laser surgery on us was actually the bloke that invented it and before he came up with this procedure, twins like mine had zero chance of survival. He was an old Egyptian bloke from what i remember so who better to do the surgery. My ex was able to stay awake with a local anesthetic and i was allowed to stay by her side.
Just before he was about to start a TV crew from CH5 tapped on the door and asked if we'd mind if they filmed it. We didn't care at that point we just wanted him to get on with it.
After the surgery they interviewed us and still in a state of shock we accepted and also agreed to a follow up interview in 4 weeks for the results.
It was for a TV show that was later filmed the next year about twin to twin transfusion.

They came to our house 4 weeks later on the morning of the scan, interviewed us again in our home and followed us to the RVI in Newcastle to have a longer than normal scan and filmed us walking into the hospital and waiting for our scan.
They filmed the whole procedure again and after the scan we were taken into an office with them waiting outside and we were told the scan results look bleak and our lads would probably die. We were then told to come back in 2 weeks.

When we came out the office we basically told the crew to feck off, we we absolutely distraught and our story never went on TV.
2 weeks later things got more positive and me and my ex sat and watched the show we could have been on a year later with 3 familes on, all experiencing a different fate and our lads safely upstairs in their cots .

The Ch5 producers had no compassion at all with us and were trying their best to film us at our worst to make their show look better.

 

I believe you mate. When I was in Newcastle General receiving my Chemo there were TV crews sniffing about wanting a story. The staff asked me if I would talk to them about a show they wanted to do, I said yes but they never came back to me. There were a few youngish lads on the ward with me at the time and they ended up doing a sow with one of them and they called it "bollocks to cancer"

It was on local news and I think it's still on YouTube and it shows the treatment, side effects etc from the meds on the young lad. As far as I'm aware he survive too.

The story didn't stop aftery carry on for us, my son has a serious heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Hear Syndrome. He has had open heart surgery 3 times before he was 3uears old and will need a transplant at some point. I put a video together on my Facebook account but it won't post on here for some reason. I'll give it another try.

 

Utter, contemptible, bastards. I could say more about scum like that, preying on people at their lowest and most vulnerable, but I'd end up getting banned.
