The point about Rutter was that he'll prove be a very good signing and the reason the point has to be made is because some posters, well mainly @ellandback actually, are making out he's absolute gash, even though he's barely kicked a ball for us.

Quality signing who we wouldn't have a chance of aquiring unless we did it now.

Oh and who's starting the narrative that he's homesick ???

    More absolute bollocks no doubt.

Agree with Milky and would also add last season we had no midfield. Forshaw coming back from 17 years out was our best player and he wasn’t great. No Phillips so Greenwood, Struijk, Koch, Llorente and Koch all stepping in, it was gash. Much better this season even with Adams out. Roca and McKennie backed up by Greenwood, Gyabi and Gray but Adams could be back for Arsenal?. Yes a midtable squad who have underperformed

Gray is a kid and should not be used.did we not learn from pre season. Players are getting bigger and heavier and taller.

Thursday morning and BBC saying Gnonto now wanted by Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City plus Napoli, Juventus, Inter Milan……. Reckon we are going to lose him but at least we can expect north of £50m for him if he wants to leave

If we sell Gnonto then I have been proved right about Radz he just wanted to use our club as a money making shop window. He’s now’t but a creasy Italian chancer :steam:

Anyone believing there is any future in selling the Crown Jewels is deluding themselves. If new owners show enough ambition to compete in top half of table then maybe we’ll be able to hold onto most of our best players. As it is it’s clear only ambition is to survive season after season. Not many top players will stay long at that

Its ok having a go at Radz for cashing in but if the club stay up and obviously going to stay up and the players are then invited to a meeting with the board and 49ers. Presentation from new owners, investment cash for player upgrades and ambition to go to next level. Just maybe the best players buy into it and stay.

The problem has been the stupidity of some board decisions that have had the club as a bottom feeder struggling for the last 2 seasons and good players won’t stand for that

Trouble is we’re **** at “cashing in”. Given his age, potential to become even better and how long he has got left in his career, we should be asking for between £80 - £100 million or telling him and his agent he has a five year contract with us so he stays. That’s how Brighton get top dollar for their players. This assumes we stay up of course.

At his age, the fact he’s already an established Italian international, and the way he’s hit the ground running, immediately becoming Leeds’ most influential player, he’s got to be worth £100m+ That’s when his agent will be demanding his wages reflect his valuation.

And that’s when Leeds will need to show ambition, pay him the going rate for a player in that category, or simply take the easy option (for the club) and cash in.

Hopefully Leeds will keep him, build the team around him, and add similar quality. Otherwise it’s one step forward two steps back.

Correct. If the likes of Brighton and Villa (with Grealish before he eventually left after a few seasons) can keep hold of their better players then Leeds should also be able to.

It's ok lads, everyone is getting in a lather over nothing. It is only a week since someone confirmed for me on here that none of the top clubs are interested in our players (and, let's face it, why would they be when our DOF hasn't a scoobie what he is doing?). So we can all calm down, it is newspapers making things up again and Meslier & Gnonto will be going nowhere :emoticon-0148-yes:

Have every sympathy with the post, however financially we can’t compete with either club. Both have had greater PL revenue over the past 10 yrs, Villa have bigger ground and bigger average attendance, plus an owner who has shed loads. Think Brighton’s owner is also loaded, then with the incredible profit they make on transfers I would imagine they are in a far more favourable position than us.

As fans we want the best for our club, some believe we can compete with maybe 12 of the other PL rivals. Sadly we are way way behind and 3 yrs of PL money hasn’t changed that because they’ve also benefitted from that.

Wish it were different, but we are where we are.
