The guy responding isn't sticking up for HSBC or Shell he's pointing out that the UK government are powerless to seize profits from foreign owned companies & hand them to poor UK residents.

Perhaps Sunak could ban Shell oil from trading in the UK ?

Iphones are expensive the latest Samsung s23 is £1600 poor people can't afford them, the UK government can't set the price at say £100 & expect apple or Samsung to comply it's the same for Shell.

I wouldn't be opposed to Nationalising energy & striving to become energy independent by drilling for gas & oil but both parties have bought into carbon net Zero 2030 so there's no will to reduce fuel prices.

I find it confusing that a person who is anti: Government, WEF, EU, ‘Big Pharma’, WHO, Digital Currency, Digital ID is readily able to stick up for huge corporations making vast profits while the ‘normal’ man must put up with ever increasing costs and is lambasted for asking for wage rises (and even blamed for these increasing costs). Your tweet response and follow up seem to say it’s OK to do this due to how they operate.

The massive profits may be generated form their Global operations (and in case of SHELL etc, using the proxy wars/money laundering in UKRAINE as a reason – something which you are also against), however, that doesn’t mean that they should be allowed just to increase costs ‘locally’ (with no reasonable justification other than ‘GLOBAL (IST) events), awarding themselves massive pay rises whilst we all have to take a big bite out of a **** sandwich and grin.

The UK government can (and could ) curb the ever increasing costs . Of course they can.

They choose not to and we know why , as individuals, they stand to make money out of it .

It’s jut another way to force us towards UBI, DC and DI.

It’s not right and ‘ordinary’ people should not be happy and accept it.

With new petrol and diesel cars set to be banned from showrooms in the UK in 2030 and across Europe from 2035, there could still be life in the internal combustion engine beyond these deadlines, according to leaked documents.

A draft proposal from the European Commission - reportedly seen by Reuters on Tuesday - will allow sales of new cars with internal combustion engines that run only on climate neutral e-fuels.

Just last month, the European Parliament formally approved a law to effectively ban the sale of any new car with a combustion engine - including petrol, diesel and hybrid models - in the European Union from 2035.

However, in an attempt to resolve a spat with Germany over the EU's phasing out of combustion engine cars, a new stipulation could allow these models to remain in showroom if they run purely on carbon-neutral fuels.

The efuels include carbon 'sucked' from the atmosphere using energy intensive technology to be stored underground, at locations that just happen to have oil in, that will be driven out by the carbon to be used. It also includes adding hydrogen to the carbon to make hydrocarbon fuel...to be burned, and require emissions 'sucking' from the atmosphere where the circle continues.

There's a good argument to be made that the doom goblin and eco freaks are very useful idiots to the energy companies, as they are able to demonise those pointing out the flaws in the logic leaving the big companies free to drive through measures that cost them little, will have little if any real impact on climate change, and make them far greater profits from a lower energy product, that will have a higher volume just to add to the increase in cost, all sold as 'green'.
