Good Morning. It's Wednesday 22nd March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Did the 49ers pull the plug on the Harrison deal

Football journalist Dean Jones believes that the 49ers may have saved Leeds from relegation after (allegedly) pulling the plug on Jack Harrison's move to Leicester City on transfer deadline day seven weeks ago. He was halfway through his medical, when Leeds recalled him back to Elland Road.

Whilst the 26yo continuous to frustrate with inconsistent performances, it's difficult to deny that on his day, he is one of the finest strikers of the ball in the Premier League. His goals from previous campaigns have kept Leeds afloat, but unfortunately they have dried up this season. Consecutive goals against Brighton and Wolves have tripled his tally to three this season (League), and whilst it doesn't sound like much, it makes him Leeds third highest goalscorer this term, behind Summerville (4), and Rodrigo (11).

According to Jones:- "It went right to the wire, that move, and, you know, it obviously fell through it last minute, Leeds pulled the plug." "I think it was the guys from San Francisco, that obviously half-own Leeds, [that] decided not to go through with that one. They wanted to keep him and it's turned out to be a decision that might actually end up keeping them in the Premier League."

    What next for Rutter

It's fair to say that Georginio Rutter’s introduction to the Premier League has not gone to plan. Since his arrival in January, the soon to be 21yo has amassed 184 minutes of game time, looks awkward in-front of goal, and a has successful pass rate of less than 44%.

There are 35 million reasons why Head Coach Javi Gracia decided to keep him benched last weekend. Leeds may have given the ball away more times than Firpo's had bookings in his career; but they rediscovered that creative spark, which up until the Wolves game, had long since deserted them. The last thing they needed was for somebody to interrupt that flow. The cogs are finally turning in unison, and Gracia will not want to change a thing.

Where does this leave Rutter? Weren't we led to believe he would get us goals? That's what was needed when he joined nine weeks ago! Leeds have more wide men than diners at an American buffet; the last thing on their wish list should have been another, especially when you look at our narrow formation.

    Nunes has red card overturned

Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes has successfully had his red card rescinded following an appeal to the FA for wrongful dismissal. The 24yo, an unused substitute in last weekends game against Leeds, was given his marching orders deep into injury time after colliding with the assistant referee following Rodrigo's goal.

He he was doing off his seat at the time remains a mystery, as does the melee which ensued, most of which was outside the confines of the Wolves dugout. Perhaps they should appeal Jonny's early bath too.

If Gnonto starts on the left then it follows fully fit Sinisterra starts on the right, so where does Harrison fit besides sat on the bench alongside Summerville. I would also opt for Georginio Rutter to come on ahead of Harrison as given the correct game plan he could do some serious damage from out to in. Rutter has been unlucky not to have got off the mark and even when he led the line against Fulham he had a good goal chalked off and saw their keeper pull off a couple of great saves. A goal will do him good and in my view is going to score goals

Think I mentioned before that a usually reliable source said that it was radz and radz alone who wanted to cash in on cresswell and Harrison. Cresswell refused to go, 49ers stepped in and ‘bought’ Harrison from radz.

Caused a rift amongst the Leeds board, as did the surprise (to them) sacking of marsch… hence no replacement lined up. If all true, most Leeds fans are happy radz off loaded Jesse.

Few seem to rate Harrison who can be frustrating but he’s our assist king, and tracks back and holds position better than our other wingers. He’s a very useful footballer. If all fit the choice between Jack, Willy, Jimmy and luis is a good problem to have… and provides back up for injuries and great options off the bench.

You can see the older he becomes the less he scores. Soon he will be as good as Roberts <laugh><laugh><laugh>

    Spot on milky.

Great problem to have as is having Bamford, Rodrigo & Rutter competing to play up top.

We're looking good on paper so just need the results to continue to back that up <ok>

All makes perfect sense. Fans moan about not having strength and then want us to sell at every opportunity saying we've too many for various positions. No we don't have too many for any position

Yep this guy is crap and a waste of money. Get real FFS he’s wearing a Leeds shirt but some just love to slag our kids off. This player isn’t Tyler Roberts, this kid could be special……

    100% correct Doc.

This boy is going to be some player.

Massive upgrage on Joffy in terms of talent and that's not to have a dig at Joffy. What's also key is that we have Rodrigo and Bamford fit, which means Rutter can be introduced slowly and develop at his own pace.

Ive no idea either way as he hasn't played near enough games for us but Id also be wary of those YouTube videos. Don't tell the full story either. For example wasn't there a story he didn't want to move to England at all. Won't be a help if he's unsettled at 20 years of age

I have similar videos on Felipe Da Costa and Adryan if anyone wants to see them <laugh>

Only kidding Doc, its way too early to be passing judgement on Rutter. He's come in to a struggling side in the toughest and most physical league in the world with the best defenders. It's very normal to take time to adjust, Gnonto was the exception not the rule and even he had time in the 21s (which everyone bitched about <laugh>)

The serious reports on him before he joined was he was a talent but still very rough round the edges... hence 'one for the future' more than the present. My only 'negative' observation on him is i was expecting him to have more of a turn of pace than we've seen.

    Rutter is not slow though.

Probably Bamford quick if you know what I mean, sometimes they look lethargic but actually there's more zip to their game than at first glance <ok>

I've felt we were a centre half and left back off being a good squad for a while... i'd probably add a more creative natural 10/AM to that now... and hey if junior comes good maybe we can take left back off the list of no1 priority - I'd still want a young first team ready left back to provide competion, regardless.

If we stay up, I don't see major surgery required.

All banter aside, results have picked up, but whilst the style of football has changed, performances haven't picked up by all objective measures. Hopefully the breaks we've got recently will add confidence and the performances will follow. If we stay up and Javi stays he'll then get a pre-season to work on how he wants to play rather than the sticky tape approach he has no alternative but to do now.

Harrison certainly works hard off the ball, and also tracks back. He isn't a great tackler, with a success rate of 58% this season, according to 'Infogol'.

Yeh Paddy is deceptive when he gets into stride. Rutter isn't slow by any means, just his pace had been talked up before he joined,, but he looks like he'll have to 'skill' defenders not chip it past and skin them. I guess all premier league full backs are quick*

*unless they play for leeds <laugh>... maybe that's why he looks good in training

Not being a great tackler is sometimes ok. Just getting in the way is often more than enough as wife number 2 liked to state.

    Morning all

Jack Harrison - I often complain about him but he has been a regular under Bielsa, Jesse and Gracia

    Gracia on Harrison:
"Last game he scored an amazing goal for us and always is ready to play on the right side, on the left side, playing with three in the middle, in different positions and always in my opinion at a high level. This is the kind of players I think we have to take care of because they are the present and the future of the club."

Rutter is homesick, he is trying to get used to a new country and club, he has been thrown in at the deep end with huge expectations, he needs to be on the bench, and he needs to focus on his training and settling in. Assuming we avoid relegation and things are safe towards the last few games, he then needs 90 minutes for 2-3 games and get him prepared for next season without the weight on his shoulders

January comes along and at last the fans believe the club have bought a LB and a striker, we were all chuffed. However Wober hasn’t played at LB just left sided CB and our new striker has hardly touched a ball. Yet slowly it’s coming together?
