We thinking that Gelhardt gets benched next couple of games? He needs it IMO. Was getting to really sill levels today

Strange times at Sunderland, for me. Really happy with the progress being made whilst simultaneously completely baffled by the striker situation that shall not be mentioned :emoticon-0127-lipss.

Under normal circumstances the fan base would be furious about the lack of striking options, but, it appears that there is a plan being implemented that requires some patience on the part of the supporters.

It's fascinating, to be honest. Walking the thinest of tightropes. Most will allow them the time in the short term, if we win 1 game out of every 3 or 4 until the end of the season and are comfortably safe, which it looks like will be the case.

The test is then, though. Gonna be the most interesting pre season I can remember for a long time. If we address the obvious issues and bring in some quality AND potential, have cover for RS (assuming he stays)and make a decent start, nobody will be talking about playing the majority of a championship season with 1 or no strikers available. If it goes tits up, the knives will be out very quickly.

I think it's unprecedented in our recent history and whatever the outcome, you have to respect the commitment to the plan. Some very brave decisions being made.

The potential upside is massive, likewise though, supporters go to games to see their team win and developing players as an objective will only be accepted as long as the team progress matches the individual player development.

Some sleepless nights being had within the leadership group, guaranteed. Nowt good ever happened without taking risks though.

3 5 2 when we don't have LND on call is not a bad idea, it would suit our present squad much better. As would a bit more pro active rotation in team selection. We have started far too many games half asleep for it to be coincidence.

I think if we were to go F9 again teams would just sit back and let us pass the ball. IMO the only real alternative is to 4231 - Diallo as the F9 with Clarke and Roberts wide then Pritchard/Michut behind with Neil and Michut/Ekwah in the middle. Don’t really see us being any better off having nobody in their half who can hold the ball up or make those runs to draw defenders.

Gooch has done well further up the pitch since he has came back imo as well. Would like to see Jewi get a lot more minutes from now on as well.

Would like to see Gelhardt in his natural position as a 10 behind Clarke with because his confidence looks shot playing as a 9. We've got nowt to lose by giving it a try.

Not a fan of Clarke through the middle at all. He’s weak as piss. Much better on the wing, wouldn’t nullify him by playing him out of position and someone worse in his position. He had drameh on strings first half but didn’t look like he wanted to put the ball into the box because there’s nothing to hit.

Only had the radio commentary, but seems that at 1-0 , Luton, the 1-0 specialists were happy to see the game out because they really wanted 3 points . At 1-1 , you'd assume they would have the same desire for three points. But from our goal , having been poor, it was all us , against a so called promotion contender.. To me . just shows again how good we can be. ( and will !)

I agree with TM that the fans got behind the team today till the end. Wasn't a bad atmosphere tbh.

Burnley getting a right stuffing tonight gives them food for thought over the international break. Not sure how that will work for us. cant wait to find out.

Hopefully our lads all come back in one piece. They are the best side we have played in the league this season but you never know how it will go. I'll back our lads to give it their absolute best shot and see where that gets us.

Decent point and fair result. 1st half was garbage from both teams and their goal was very soft I thought.
Bit of a soft pen, but will take it all day long.

TM has just said Burnley is a free hit, hope he's got enough for lads to let loose a decent side and give Burnley a fright.
As for today, we just never give up, it certainly wasn't a classic, but I imagine Luton haven't been involved in one of those all season.
KTF lads, eight to go, it's beyond manys memory that we've had a seasons run in with very little to play for, and whilst I want to win every game I'm relaxed about what's to come knowing these kids will not give up.
    What season were having HTL.

Think we may see a few bids coming in for that lad, and some of the others too. Will be interesting to see what the club do in the summer.

From what I'm reading on social media there are quite a few fans struggling with us not having the stress of a relegation/promotion fight, when in reality we just need to sit back and enjoy the last 8 games - it's a new concept for most fans it would seem. Finishing 8th-12th is a great achievement for a promoted side. Lots of positives and lots to build on for next year. Happy days.
