With the FA wanting an englishman as the next England manager could Pardew make a late charge. He has been linked to the job today (by one of his own players) but was also linked at the weekend by a football journo. The 3 managers that have been linked recently are Redknapp (ex saint) Pardew (ex saint) Hoddle return (ex saint) Just as Saints academy are becoming a feeder club for Arsenal are Southampton becoming a feeder club for future England managers? - Adkins watch out
Adkins has a subdermal tracking device fitted. Any attempt to leave Southampton sets off an alarm at Nicola's house.
That's not a bad shout - I think Pards is a really good manager. He would certainly get the best out of the players and he's definitely a manager for the big matches. Personally, I would still go with Redknapp but I think he'd be reluctant to leave Spurs after what he's achieved there. Martin O'Neill would be good if he wanted it and I do believe that Adkins will end up at Liverpool or England one day. He just outsmarts everyone!
I don't want Pardew as manager! I dot want to see England playing hoofball! Then again I only ever really watch England when they're in either World Cup or Euros... Simply to see us fail, again, epically...
if we want an english man with proven track record then for me only one man hoddle has been linked with a return so my vote would go for Mike Bassett
hodgson for me. Who said Redknapp won't want to leave Spurs? He would already be out the door when the Spurs chairman went to tell him they had approached. He's been self promoting himself for years and is the ideal position for him to use to inflate his ego even more.
He doesn't always play hoof-ball. He plays it when it is required, and depending on the players he has and the opposition his team faces. Besides, I didn't see anyone complaining when the last goal in the JPT Final was scored that way. I think ol' Pards could do well. Most certainly no worse than several others have done.
If the FA are going to stick with their stupid limitation that the next manager will be English, then right now Pardew is probably the best of a bad bunch. Indeed, you could probably take out "right now" and that sentance would still apply (even in the recent past, no-one stands out, whilst also Pardew has done ok - Charlton aside).
I would pay good money to watch the firework's when he tries it on with the England centre backs Mrs!
This purple patch at Newcastle will no doubt be shortlived. Sustained success needs a manager with a great deal of patience and ability to keep going even when things aren't going their way. An England manager needs it in serious abundance. Pardew doesn't have it. As much as I hate to admit it, Redknapp probably does. The manager also needs a strong personality, the cojones to take risks and stand by them and to not be a slave to the media. It's not an easy task.
