After last night's latest debacle with pathetic officiating, I've done some quick working out.

Starting with QPR at home when one of their lot broke Ballard's foot without punishment we're probably 9-10 points worse off than we should be. This includes the idiot against Blackpool who blew up for a free kick just as Embo was taking a shot which went in, Blackburn away where their opening goal came 30 seconds after we should have had a penalty and their second was headed in from an offside position. Swansea at home where we had a clear penalty turned down before Oniens red card (and another two clear shouts for penalties turned down later), Coventry away where their first goal is scored with three fouls in the build up not given, and last night. I know I've missed some others, and I've not included Stoke at home because of how we fell apart in the second half, but it's not unreasonable to say that if we'd had better referees in those games, we could have beaten QPR, Blackburn, Swansea, Blackpool and gotten a point at Coventry. So easily between 8 and 12 points (including last night) have been cost us by **** officiating. That would have us on between 60 and 64 points, between 6th and joint 3rd in the table. Even my first estimation would have us pretty solidly in the play offs.

Quite honestly it's shocking and disgusting how bad these officials have been. A couple of bad ones a season I can accept, but this?

The whole standard of refereeing is an absolute joke, and linesmen are a complete waste of time. It’s as though they are now no longer allowed to signal when there has been a blatant foul. Sure we can’t blame officials for all bad results but imagine if we needed one point for safety at the end of the season. A decision like last nights could cost a team promotion or relegation.

I’ve said before that the FA have a lot to answer for, not just for allowing these things to go without any consequences but also on the other hand for failing to protect referees from players cheating and surrounding them on occasions. Like with Humes foul last night, yeah he was late and it was a booking but every one of those player’s surrounding the ref should have been carded. Or at the least the captain for not controlling his players.

It all needs a shake up but absolutely **** all will happen. I hate VAR but it serves a purpose with certain decisions, the money involved in championship promotion surely means it should be in our league by now.

Refs have indeed been shocking, but we also see things from our own perspective.

For example, last night - the ref in my opinion got the Hume yellow card spot on, but there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that if a Sheff Utd player had done that, it would have been seen by us as an awful decision to only book him and put down as a reason why the officials cost us the game. We'd have been screaming for a red.

I thought the ref was okay in the first half last night, though the penalty for handball was at the other end.

In the second, he gave them a lot. At keastvtwo players on yellows pulled lads back and could have walked.

As for the ornament with a flag for their second. He might as well have stayed at home if he couldn't see three players offside from a free kick.

We all keep bring it up , for the past four years, but it is getting worse game on game. No one likes knocking referees but these are now well paid full time officials who appear to be rank amateur's. If they are not full time, then it needs addressing.

posted in the match thread before i saw this one...can not remember specifics but i do know we have lost a few points over the season but these are my main annoyances lately.

why in all honesty can those that make these daft rules just agree that 'offside' is 'offside'...none of this 'interfering with play/in the goalkeepers sight', it is still an offence and it takes away any guess work (although how the hell was there need for guesswork when thier lad waved his foot at the ball in mid air) and how the hell are three players in an 'offside' position not interfering with play when they all run towards the keeper.

hand ball, i dont know if the officials know what it is now but we see man city given a penalty yet we get denied, can almost gaurantee if we had VAR we would not have been given a penalty... as we have all seen too many times since it was introduced, it allows officials to view as far back as they want to so they can find a reason to chalk off a goal against a top 6 team.

i do not like having a go at officials as they do have a hard job but the amount of what can only be viewed as bias (not just at us) is getting beyond a joke and when technology is introduced and is allowed to fail in 'cleaning up' the game we realise that bias is widespread.

Needs to be some kind of recourse. Take some of their fees off them. Diabolical.

Those teams you list would also have fewer points if we had a fair referee because if we lost say 10 points that means other teams have more points than they should have.
For example, had we drawn yesterday we would have 1 point more and SU 2 points less so it’s not only us losing points, it’s other teams getting points.

We must be due a run of games where the ref will be completely on our side if these things even out. Maybe next season when it matters we will be getting the extra points as we get the decisions which are currently all going against us.

I thought the standard of officiating would be better than in league 1, but it's just as bad. They should be made to explain these constant mistakes, and punished for them.
We shouldn't be moaning about refs every single game, but the standard is terrible. The club should be putting in complaints as they're costing us massively.

Don’t forget Alese’s “equaliser” against Rotherham in the last minute, when their goalkeeper clattered into O’Nien and was awarded a free kick.

Blackburn always sticks in my mind as we would have beat them if the penalty was awarded when it should have been. They even scored a offside goal for the second!

Some ****ing ****e decisions, obviously we notice ours more but it feels like refs enjoying giving us **** all.

It must be fixed, i don't mind if it levelled out over so many matches, but there is a list of bad reffing at Blackburn, Coventry and goes on and on. VAR would put us in the top 6 no bother, so they better get it in the championship to stop the cheating by refs and players, 3 players were offside when Sheff u scored that 2nd goal the ref apolagised ? we need every game looked at not by the refs association because they will back each other but the F A or this is going on and on, THEY have cost us a top 6 place and maybe promotion, the players wasting time as well, i say 5 seconds for a throw in and 10 seconds maximum for a goal kick, a player will be given the ball and HAS to throw the ball in that time or it will go the other way and a yellow card given, if the goalie takes more than ten seconds(the ball boy places the ball as well) for a goal/free kick a penalty is awarded to the opposing side, a stretcher straight on the pitch for a "injured player" and get him off quick. Conning the ref like last night surrounding the ref after a tackle gets all the surrounding players a yellow card each, players being subbed 5 seconds to get off the pitch or booked. the argument would be they have no watch but the ref signals when time is up or an announcer counting the time down anything there i have missed ? players are not allowed to touch the ball when out of play etc only the ball boy/opposing player can give the ball back, then he has 5/10 secs to get on with it. Injuries have been bad enough this season but this is serious now, of course Tony get's booked for arguing etc but he is allowed to say something.

Like I said, there's a few I'd forgotten about, like that one, but it only goes to show how bad the officials are that you forget recent things like this because of how much and how many worse incidents there are.

Add this one in with the rest I've mentioned and you're getting close to 20% of our games this season have been negatively affected by poor officials.

Then add in how unlucky we have been with injuries and this team is fighting for automatic promotion.

Not wanting to alarm anyone cos as you all know that is not in my nature but I believe the ref in charge of the Luton game is his 1st in the Championship. Lets hope he's a fkn homer.

I’m not so sure about that like. We’re 18 points behind 2nd. We’ve had horrible luck with injuries I agree but to challenge for top 2? More like play-offs imo. Stewart and Evans have been huge misses but the amount of injuries we’ve had right across the squad is a sickener.
