RIP Fella. One man who changed an entire sport event.

Seeing he has passed away brought back some memories of the Fosbury Flop at school. I remember being in the school hall, high jump setup and us all being told to do this backward jump, over a bar, onto a mat. Mental. Probably just after racing to climb ropes up and down in relay races or playing catch with medicine balls. Loved gym me <laugh>

Reminds me of school PE when a lad who was good at gymnastics developed a technique of a flying forward somersault over the bar. I can't remember why but his nickname was pussy, hence the pussy plop.

I used to love high jump at junior school, I was one of the few who did the Fosbury flop while others did all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff to throw themselves over that bloody bar. I actually held the school record when I left, wonder if it's been beat yet <laugh>
