I haven’t seen what the thread descended into but I would assume some of the regulars donned their SS gear and it went quite a bit deeper than just discussing whether the wording used did indeed sound like 1930’s Germany.

Depends if they are seen as an asset which is fundamental to their output or not. There'd be a lot of talent to replace, and there isn't an infinite pool of resource to do that with. If the vast majority of freelancers walked out then what's to say other freelancers wouldn't boycott also?

I absolutely don't think he should. There was nothing wrong with what he said at all. It was accurate, and -- to be honest -- he should be allowed to say it. If the BBC introduce rules banning their contributors and freelance presenters from speaking out on issues of the day that they feel strongly about, they wouldn't have any contributors or freelance presenters left. People are too lily-livered about well thought out comparisons to 1930s Germany. The only way we can draw any benefit from awful episodes in history is trying to make sure they don't happen again, and that includes highlighting when people are using extremist language and policies to try to garner votes from baser human instincts.

It was mainly one poster who wrote his personal version of My Struggle split over several hundred posts.

I trust above posts are going to get deleted like my recent one was. Not because I think they should be, but just to at least demonstrate consistency. Moderation on here gets more like 1930's Germany by the day.

I'm sure the thread will just get locked at some point tonight, interesting to see one person removed from posting on this thread though when the main other person they where having the back and forth with is still allowed to post... Both talking about the exact same subject in the exact same way. Just one had the same view as the mod and the one who was removed didn't.

It's getting locked now, I've had enough of this thankless task for one week.
