Excellent win against a classy team is a great result for us. Luck finally turned for us with Sterlings lucky bounce and the refs 2nd chance penalty. Overall we still looked the better team though again wasted several early chances. Call out to Cucurella who I thought ,along with Chilwell ,was terrific. James was great and got better, and Havertz looked miles better than normal, but is no striker. Pity we can't find his best position, cause he's great in big games. Enzo was quiet for mine, Kovacic did loads of good work.Poor old Pulisic wishes he'd stayed on the bench. In a 5 minute cameo he stuffed up about 3 moves.Potter has to give Aubamayang some time on the pitch with the team behind him starting to show some better form. Excellent team performance with grit and passion back at last.
Was super surprised we got through the tie. Especially since we scored 2 goals in one game! We havent done that in like 4 months. A bit of luck, but we were still the better team on the night and the win was fully deserved. Deffo a pen for me, but the decision to retake it was a bit iffy for me. The whole encroachment thing is weird, especially with the trend these past couple of years of spasticated run ups when taking penalties, either running on the spot like a ****** or running and stopping like you have some sort of mental illness, players dont know when they can enter the box..remember when people used to just run up and thwack it? Looking forward to the draw for the next round. We still need a striker and to strip the squad by about 10 players but we are getting there.
Great game. For me, having Chilwell and Reece James looking fully fit and running down the wings helped to destroy Dortmund. Could have won that game 5-0 if all the chances were taken. Fair play to Potter - he’s weathered the storm and I hope he reaps the rewards.
Questionable penalty and even more so with the retake but we absolutely deserved to go through and I think 2-1 over the tie flattered them. We should’ve won by at least a couple at their place. Some big performances last night from players who have struggled this season, Cucurella especially who I thought was excellent but what a difference it makes having James & Chilwell fit, wow. Fofana looks to be playing well too and we do seem to have nailed the defensive side of the team so I guess we’re half way there but we’re crying out for a goal scorer or two.
Well we finally scored more than 1 against Leicester, and all of them were well well worked goals. Another good performance from pretty much everyone. Mudryk looked better though he still needs time to adapt, Joao Felix was really great despite 2 shocking tackles on him and Kepa again made crucial saves. Was surprised at how quickly Leicester can attack and how really accurate their passes are, we could do better in that area as we too often gave the ball away with dopey passes or hoofed and hoped. Given we had 2 incredibly close VARs go against us, a very good result on our climb back.
