I was amazed at the support across BBC Sport - the radio coverage was knackered too. Bravo, Colin Murray & Co.

There’s even calls for Lineker to be given cathedral status.

He'd do a better job - as would Marcus Rashford.

Everyone has a right to an opinion. I do not have any interest in Gary Lineker's. Some of the comments he has posted about Watford over the last few years have shown a complete lack of knowledge. He posts these things to gain attention and keep himself in the spot light. As for his comrades, they will still take their SKY/ BT money so its not really a sacrifice for them and they would be better served leaving it for jug ears and the BBC to sort out between themselves. If he has broken any contractual rules, he should respect what he has signed up to and if he has not, then what is all the fuss about.....

My only criticism of Lineker is his disdain for our club and GT. Other than that I find him to be an excellent presenter, regardless of whether I agree with his opinion, and clearly his head is properly screwed on politically for the most part.
Best of all he has forced those who disagree with his recent tweet to break cover and and show themselves up for the ignoramuses that they are!

What seems strange, is that Thursday evening it appeared that everything had been sorted out between Lineker and the BBC. Something changed overnight. If the BBC has bowed to outside pressure, which we don't know, then it being impartial, and its presenters being so, becomes a farce.

Seems to be some confusion as to is he employed by the BBC or a free lance worker?

If the former then obviously right to get into trouble but then he regularly made personal comment on Twitter often with criticism of the Government so what has changed now ?

I tend to agree with you here. He is entitled to his opinion, not that I always agree with it and if he was concerned about the boat people he should be concerned about them risking their lives in a rubber dingy, which is what the government is trying to stop. He should respect his contract.
I am really perplexed as to why this is headline news, the war in Ukraine is. The plight of the boat people is also of more import.
I would also like to know what Mr Lineker does for his inflated salary. He hosts a programme for 60-90 minutes, very little analysis from him. I guess he must rehearse/prepare but is that all? We don't see him for the rest of the week generally. If so I resent paying my licence fee.

I take it you resent paying your taxes to pay Boris Johnson, who is not even showing up in Westminster for several weeks at a time.

Burnley have released a statement informing fans that they have been placed under an immediate transfer embargo by the EFL. This is due to being late providing their accounts. Seeing as we are not in a transfer window, I cannot see the point of the ban.

Does seem a bit odd - will it impact them next season in the Premier league?

Then that would have to be a Premier league decision.

Their recent success was probably financed by Man City to give Kompany an apprenticeship for him to take over when Pepe leaves

But its Watford everyone wants to investigate/croticise

I am surprised (not Really) that no-one has actually asked him if he supports the Criminal; Gangs that are trafficking these people, robbing them, off all their money and loading two or three times more people than is safe to in rubber dingys and setting them adrift in the English Channel for them to drown or be rescued by British ships, or how his Moral Compass deals with him and his fellow "commentators" being paid millions to comment on a World Cup that cost the lives of thousands of migrant workers building their stadiums, or what his views are on Russia slaughtering thousand of Ukrainians in an illegal war, BUT if he criticises an ELECTED Government trying to stop the trafficking of migrants he is as left wing hero

Utter ****ing bullshit and the ultimate hypocrisy

For me it’s not a question of a government suddenly worrying about people risking their lives in boats. I don’t believe for a second they could give a tuppenny toss about these people.
But what is important to them is their position in the polls. And just as they did with Brexit, when it looks like it will go pear-shaped, the Tories’ best chance of reviving their fortunes is to appeal the country’s many racists to tip the balance back in their favour. Not saying all people taking this line are racist, but if the fear of brown people in our country will deliver a vote for Brexit, or a Tory election win, this government is cynical enough to pedal that line.

I agree with Fez that GL’s attitude to WFC and GT stink, but he had the balls to speak up about this bullshit from the government, and I respect him for that and his colleagues.

I posted a thing from the BBC on here a while ago with Ian Wright, explaining to Alan Shearer, the daily racist messages and threats Wright gets on social media. I was naïve enough to think those attitudes were rapidly dying out. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

Doesn’t it say everything about the idiot that produced this, that they can’t even spell Lineker’s name? Probably can’t spell their own.
