Great thread RTB I am expecting a more defensive set up this week. I suspect Daillio to be benched and a 1-1 draw Hawaaaaaaaaay
I went for the 3-0, Borini penalty game, when we had no chance ... .. great support and a cracking away day.
I'm expecting defeat, heavily. I think we're f****** and hope we have enough points to stay up already.
Not ideal with the injuries mounting up but it’s a big chance for the fringe players. It’ll be in at the deep end for a few of them but they came here to play.
Great work as always RTB. Hope the players aren't feeling so apprehensive about this one. In the prediction league I have 19 for H, 3 for D and only 6 for A---- the lowest backing for us this season. My head says narrow defeat, but heart goes for a well earned draw from a mixture of good play and maturity.
Sunderland Head Coach Tony Mowbray “We have to stay positive” said Mowbray. “I don’t really want it to become the main narrative. We just have to go and compete and try and play well. “It sometimes feels like it is one step forward and two steps back. It could be an opportunity for other players. It feels like it is a bit stop-start but it just becomes a bit more difficult, that’s all. It doesn’t mean it’s impossible.” “Hopefully different players will do a similar job and we give the performances on the pitch that the supporters have enjoyed so far this season apart from the odd game. “We should look forward to these next eleven games and try and attack these games. There will be some young players getting opportunities and hopefully they can become a fan’s favourite when the opportunities come.”
We are not punching above our weight Tony, we should be finishing above teams like Luton and Millwall should have been prepared and signed in Jan. 3-0 cannot see any other score now roll on next season.
So what exactly did you mean? By hoping we already have enough points can only mean you don't expect them to get anymore. If you thought they would get more points, you wouldn't need to "hope"
Early start for me in the morning. Driving down to pick up my father in law, a die hard Norwich supporter, then over to the match. Have some hospitality lined up, and a treat for the old fella with some time with ex players. Things you do. Hope they all remember this is the friendly cup when I am jumping around after our last minute winner in a 2-3 football feast.
I meant I hope we have enough already given I'm not expecting a good points rate from now until the end of the season. Apologies @marcusblackcat btw, the tone of my original reply reads a little off.
I remember two funny things about this game. Three of us arrived in Norwich on the trains, from three different locations, and met up in a bar near the station . We were laying into rum&black chasers when we saw, on the pub TV, a Sunderland team coming onto the pitch at some game. Then we suddenly realised it was ten minutes to kick off and we were watching our game live on Sky We ran to the ground and were there in time for Borini's penalty. The second funny thing was watching Chris Sutton weeping and wailing on TV about the penalty .... ... what an absolutely tragic bellend.
