Woops, letting them all go would be a pretty big surprise though. I was surprised to see Matty Jacob given a new deal too
As far as I know it was because they weren't sure whether Sinik, Allahyar and Tetteh were going to be fit, so they were lacking in wide men. Sinik bounced back quicker than expected, Allahyar came back and then injured himself again. Once Connolly and Ebiowei became available and it was evident that Sinik needed more consistent game time, there was a reshuffle. Jarvis can still go out anywhere in the National League or lower until the 17th April I think and he probably will. But yes I think given that Boro wanted him back it was silly not to send him there quicker.
It's looking increasingly likely that at least two of those names won't actually want to sign even if they're offered money. I don't know why Matty Jacob was offered a deal, a left back is a priority in the Summer so I can only assume it's bye bye Fleming and Elder isn't decided upon yet. Jacob can play across the back for so he's at least versatile and he's not done too badly in terms of development, but we can easily buy better and a year's contract extension just means another year out on loan. He's only 21, so he has time on his side, but if he's going to be emulating Greaves, he needs to be playing at a proper competitive level.
To be fair, I do enjoy the odd home game at Scarborough if City are away, it's a cracking club and they're not the same petty, jealous arseholes they were when they were Scarborough Town.
Maybe one that's a bridge too far, but Manning from Swansea would be a good one to target if a LB is a priority. He's out of contract at Swansea and has indicated he's leaving, he's Irish so would presumably know Christie well, might be one to pursue.
Was at the mccain home fries or whatever it was when they played the Arse. Cousin took me in their away end when they played wrexham a couple of times before they got league status or in that first season. Cant remember them playing city in game that really mattered that much unless things were really grim, less than 4k attendance but I've sorta shut that era out as part of ptsd therapy- have to avoid **** 90s football as a trigger mechanism... . But always found it ironic that that Syd Scarbro chucked more sponsorship at us than his namesake club. And didn't Don Robinson chuck a bit of Red in our strip as homage to Scarboro?
I am within walking distance of Bridlington Town and (as a senior citizen) think the £5 admission is well worth it, so have started going when City are not playing and thoroughly enjoy it.
I live not too far from Winterton Rangers - nice little club, good playing surface and can get a decent beer; I occasionally go see Pete Daniel's old mob at Brigg Town too. Cheap football and generally entertaining.
Liam Manning is a good player, certainly better than the last one we got from Swansea. Jay DaSilva is out of contract at Bristol City, as are Zak Vyner and Han Noah Massengo, all of whom would be great additions, though there's interest from Anderlecht in Massengo. I've heard that we're also monitoring Joe Bryan's situation at Fulham, as he's currently on loan at OGC Nice in France but isn't getting much game time and is also out of contract in May.
Yeah, I feel like Manning may be aiming higher than us, although I would have said the same about someone like Christie and we managed to get him, so never say never.
The last time I went to Winterton was when they beat City 3-2 in pre season and Danny Northen scored a hattrick.
He's just giving his opinion ( an educated one you'd think ) but it's an obvious comment and train of thought. I know we have our eyes on 2 UK based strikers, but we are also looking abroad due to value for money etc.
We where linked with so many last summer and I'm hearing so many different names already and silly season hasn't even started yet.
I'm fascinated to see how Acun's impatience will blend with Rosie's inexperience. Rosie will need time and he might not get it right next year and I do wonder how long Acun will persevere if we don't have a good start to next season. Recruitment will be huge, and the job Liam did in the summer at Derby without a recruitment team was brilliant, but there's an awful lot of pressure on him this summer internally
