Cam gets his first competitive run out tonight in the Reserves' game against Gateshead http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-13796654-detail/story.html? Let's all wish him luck and hopefully, look on the bright side!
Yes let's hope that his injury has not had an effect on the way that he plays, only time will tell I suppose. But it's great to have him back, we need as much variation as possible for our front line.
I just hope expectations aren't too high. We can't expect him to instantly win us the game or play a blinder straight away, like he was used to doing frequently last season. I do think he's the answer to our lopsidedness at the minute. Hopefully with him and Dudgeon on the left and Rosey and Brady on the right, we can progress. UTT!
it will be great to watch him play again tonight and all being well he shall be back on full gas by xmas.
I couldnt believe how bad Brady was against Watford. Also Cam will be top of any NP wishlist. The concensus is they're missing a winger more than anything.
Pearson can sod off and find someone else. If we sell him any less than 5 million (I'm aware he's worth nowhere near that) I will be severely disappointed with the management and hierarchy.
I thought Brady was tactically outnumbered against Watford and his worst game was at Barnsley, he didn't break a sweat all game and offered Rosey absolutely nothing defensively (it was no coincidence that both of their goals came from our right side either). He's obviously a very good player but he just needs to pull his finger out a bit and get back to running at full backs. He seemed to be doing that in the limited time he had against West Ham but was again outnumbered because they had 11 men behind the ball (12 if you consider the size of Diop). He'll come good again, of that I'm sure. I don't think we're missing a winger from the squad as such. With Brady, Stewart, Garcia and Pusic we have four good options, it's just that 3 happen to be injured at the same time and the other has lost form. Only the very top sides can afford squads that account for all those injuries. EDIT: I've just realised you're talking about Leicester, ignore the above paragraph.
I'd be surprised to see Cam and Brady start in the same team too often when Dudge and Rosie are both playing. Leaves us very exposed but is a great option for when we're behind
I wouldn't now Pearson's gone. The prospect is mouth watering and only the most negative, defense minded manager could resist the urge.
I'm not sure NP was defensive at all. He set us up to sort the defence out first (as anyone would if they inherited one with Anthony Gardner in it) but once that was sorted he got us playing attacking football. I've yet to see any team play the way we do away from home, even West Ham with their players sat with 11 men behind the ball for most of the game. He's a **** but he wasn't defensive.
thats as far as it will go. NP wont be there long enough anyway. As for keeping Cam, the appointment of either Joyce or OGS would be massive. Afterall, it was Warren Joyce that told Cam to come to Hull in the first place. NP will be shopping elsewhere in Jan i suspect. Wolvers have some wingers surplus to requirements.
It would have never happened under Pearson, but most managers would be concerned about playing with 2 out and out wingers supported by 2 full backs that like to get ahead of their wingers through fear of exposure. He's a **** and he definitely was defensive, we played some nice football but that doesn't mean we weren't defensive. Our midfielders never went ahead of our strikers, the team was always set up to not concede chances and create enough for us to maybe nick one or two. Not that it didn't work most of the time!
So when was the last time we had less chances than the opposition? All season we've outplayed teams but fallen down in front of goal. Think about how the other teams in this league play, how many teams come to the KC and just park everyone behind the ball and we go into every game, home or away for the 3 points and we almost always dominate the game in doing so. We deserve way more credit for this than we get. It might not happen any more... Also the idea that Brady and Stewart is in some way a risk is just nonsense. We've played with Koren and Brady on the wings before, and Koren helps out defensively less than either of the wingers, we've also played Devitt and Koren at times last season, so there's clearly no problem with attacking wingers. The biggest thing being overlooked here is that Brady and Stewart, as well as being lightning going forward, both do a hell of a lot for the team defensively. Brady has been dodgy lately but on the whole he's been all work rate.
When Koren played on the wing Rosie stays at home a lot more, plus we all tend to agree that we're better when Koren is central. Bringing up last season and Devitt is pointless because we had Dawson who doesn't get forward nearly as much as Dudge, my whole point was that we won't see the four players start a game very often. As for never having less chances than the opposition that's an argument for both sides, you can say it's because we're creative, i can say it's because we're set up to not give many away. You brought up that all season we've fallen down in front of goal, IMO that's because our midfielders don't get forward enough to support the strikers leaving the two of them to take on a full complement of defenders, that's a tactical decision made by the manager which is blatently defensive minded. I'm not saying we don't play nice football but because Pearson was never brave enough to tell his midfieders to find space going forward and support the strikers, the nice football usually stopped 20 yards from goal. Again, it's not as if it didn't get results. But it didn't create many goals either - Hull's games this season have seen 29 goals total, the lowest in the league.
I'm pretty sure we will see the 4 players play together simply because they're the best in their positions. I don't follow your logic that Fryatt and thr other strikers keep missing sitters because of the midfielders not getting forward (which they do anyway, Koren in particular gets all over the opposition's half these days) the point is the chances are there, we just haven't been scoring them. That's nothing tactical that's just a lack of skill from certain individuals.
Missing the sitters isn't my point (and there haven't been many whilst we play 442), my point is we'd be creating more if the midfielders got forward more, the only way we seem to create space in the opposition's defence is when we play Dele and go 433. Koren naturally goes forward and that will always be the case, if we put someone else there it wouldn't be the same because Koren's attacking nature isn't something NP encourages, it just happens because that's the player Koren is, and it took NP over a year to realise this! Whether or not we'll see it depends entirely on the next manager, if he's willing to take a bit of a risk. If he is then i'd expect to see us ship more goals than we've become used to, but hopefully score a bundle more too. Anyway i don't think we're going to change each others mind, but i'm right and you're wrong
If Brady & Stewart are to play on the wings then just play 1 up front and play with 3 midfielders. Works for many teams and there is no reason why it wouldn't work for us. Definitely have the players for it.
