See Broadhead scored again. Ipswich mate messaged me earlier to say he is superb. Still think he was perfect for us. Alex Neil has a bit to answer on that for me. Hell of a talent slipped through our net imo.

I never agreed when some talked like he wasn't good enough for us. Something strange happened with the transfer in the l summer but imo at the time and still (I don't even know how he is doing since his move) that we should have got him in January. I could understand the club not if his attitude was questionable after the summer move not coming off last minute.

But he is an excellent finisher, good with his head also, has a bit of speed and a knack of being in the right place to get on the end of something.

He did **** all at Wigan but I think he would have done well for us!

I thought the same. They never looked a good side. And they scored 5. We looked a worse side!! Except for a tiny
Spell including our goal and ending at their 4th goal! First time in a very long time that I walked out before the end. Had a gig I needed to be sorted for so thought “**** it” as it was better that I wasn’t rushed!!

First goal, however, was an absolute joke. Ref gets their player off the field, I thought we had the ball when he stopped play but I may be mistaken, regardless, to have a player treated, walk off the pitch, and simply allow him back on when the entire field is set for the keeper to distribute the ball somewhere else, utter shambles. And his petulant “I’m not talking to you” booking if Mowbray was childish to the extreme!

not sure if that impacted the outcome, as if we go in 0-0 you never know, but their 4 in the second half had nothing to do with him!

We lost....we lost bad, but i read on here some want to replace the manager. Do they read their s hit before they press the send button to post on here, do they know how ridiculous they sound. we were struggling to get out of league this time last year, we are currently 10th in the championship....to me thats not a bad return for our first season back, but clearly some have the need to win every game playing open expansive football and make zero mistakes in the transfer window, if not...sack the manager...dear god!!!!

Yes. We need a proper conventional 3 man midfield and sacrifice an attacker. We need to get back to basics. Don't think mowbray will though, which worries me greatly.

Yeah we had too. Personally Amad would be benched for me. Has been rank in the vast majority over the last month. He can pop up and score a worldy but overall play has been lifting. Garbage off the ball too.

That was my feeling yesterday when I saw the team. Amad should have been benched if he wanted pritch in and play Michut in with Neil. There is a strong argument for resting Neil aswell but the selection didn't help him yesterday.

I am still in shock. The only positive was it was the first game I missed and I had been looking forward to it!!

It seems so much was wrong yesterday. The team, tactics, the highlighting of the deficiencies in the squad.

I just hope they learn. It may be too late (it would be typical Sunderland to win next week) for this year but I just hope the huge negatives from yesterday do not end up outweighing the positives from this season.

I would like to see Mowbray show he can turn round blips but the management also need to recognise their mistakes too

Even when he played at Wigan you could see a player in him , stylish and sharp a bit like Micheal Bridges rather than Geldhard who he was compared with on here recently.

Remember not all that long ago we had Hume on the bench but rarely played him.
Then, he got his chance and he has been one of our best players.
We now have players on the bench such as Ekwah, Lihadji, Ba and Bennette who get little or no game time yet they seem to be the type of player we need.

If we have a 3 man midfield with Onion and two of the above my guess is that they will do a Hume and we will wonder why they haven’t played much before.

As it is now, other teams can’t wait to play us.
We are very slow to get forward, playing sideways until we misplace a pass. We wait for the opposition to get fully set up defensively and then give the ball to our clever players who eventually lose it after taking on the fifth or sixth opposition player who then belts it into our half with a load of their players chasing after it. They then get it out to the winger who crosses it or passes it very quickly and they have a shot at goal.
When their wingers put a cross in they have several players to aim for.
If we ever put a cross in there’s often only one of our players somewhere in the box surrounded by opposition players.
In short, other teams attack quickly but we fart about too much.
We have a lightweight midfield and no strikers.

Before the game starts I look at our side and think we have a load of very talented players there, how can we lose.
Once we start they do all the same things that we on here and the opposition teams know they will do and more often than not seem to be our own worst enemies by making so many mistakes and bad decisions. Why pass to Roberts surrounded by their players when Clarke has acres of space. Why is it Ballard and Bath passing to each other and eventually back to Patterson who boots it upfield under pressure.

I hope this bad run ends soon but something needs to be done to end it and I’m not talking about replacing Pritchard with Michut next game to see if that works. It needs a bigger change.
I’d suggest Onion in front of our back four with Ekwah and Ba or Lihadji in front of him. Maybe Neil on later instead of Ekwah but further upfield as he is prone to losing possession and if he loses the ball in their half we have more time to do something.
Clarke and Roberts with maybe Bennette as striker.

But, what do I know. It’s only my opinion, feel free to disagree.

Probably clutching at straws here but that wasn't a protest from our players to the owners was it saying they preferred AN to TM?
Cannot think of a reason why but also could never have envisaged that carnage we witnessed yesterday.

They prefer AN who basically said they were all too young and wanted to replace majority with a more experienced side?

Its the rumors of what was AN's problem was. He wanted more control over transfers as he thought the lads were too young and needed more experience in the team. TM fits very well for letting the young lads have a chance. But something strange has gone on recently, he has made some poor choices!

Yesterday he should have went strong in that midfield with Roberts or Amad dropping out and even Pritchard and two O'Nien, Michut, Ekwah or Ba coming in. Battle in the midfield and control it for 60 -.70 minutes then stick speed and flair on.

Two more thoughts about the game.

I thing TM said that his reasoning of playing a lot of skill players in the team was to monopolise possession. Was that immediately playing into Stoke’s hands? They got into us from the off, disrupted our game and we just had no threat to counter with.

Also, we must work out a plan to get behind teams again and pull them out of position. It just makes it really easy for opposition back fours/fives at the moment.
