Good Afternoon, folks. Just to let you know - mainly you, Stu - that I am still a not606er and have no intention of going elsewhere. I have been very busy of late, and am currently making considerable in-roads with my new career as a novelist. My first offering shall be in the shops during the early part of February, which is when I shall be announcing who I am and, of course, the name of my debut novel. It is all rather exciting and I could not have achieved this without the wholehearted support of the legendary and extremely venerable Ducker. In the meantime, I shall be posting sporadically and then more regularly over the next few days. I have been reading all the posts and have plenty of comment of my own to post. It has been too long. All the best, Ponders
Very exciting and you put me to shame. I don't expect you to comment, but I am hoping it is either set in the time of Alfred the Great or of Alan the Great.
Ponders! Good to have you back. But will Ye Happye Valleye of Sirchrissie outsell A2C's award-winning trilogy, Dahn ah Grahnd, Shockin, Juss Shockin and Come Back Curbs? Only time will tell... Keep taking the Salamanders.
I have a monthly subscription (at my local purveyor of gentlemens' literature) to A2C's esteemed publication 'Practical Mudlarking' I am presently half way through building a 12 week kit form Charl'on 'Tommy Tippy' Mug for the safe consumption of hot beverages during half time
I can only dream of matching A2C's calibre as a literary heavyweight. But all the same, I think my offering has its merits as a well researched and well written piece of historical fiction. How you guys guessed that it would be a historic work is beyond me. I thought my love of the Dark Ages was well concealed...! But you are right. It is a tale which encompasses the period of Harefoot's usurpation of his half-brother Harthacanute. This is expertly woven around a sub-plot which features an Alfredian legend and a bunch of unscrupulous, but highly professional, thatchers. I am rather proud of it. Still on the Salamanders, Tewks. The side-effects are atrocious. Eggy burps and stomach-cramps are the milder symptoms. I shall not detail the others. Yuck! It is good to be back.
I always find that 'in gereral' Thatchers are a unreliable and unscrupulous lot not sure of the Tinkers either but Archers are always steadfast I'm not an Archer btw
Wow ponders, thats awesome.. didnt see that coming. Any chance of a convict aussie purchasing such novel ?
Sounds great Ponders. Just up my street. One question though, when will it be on sale in the club shop, and will the club receive £1 for every copy sold !
Thank you, friends. I am afraid the book will not be on sale in the club superstore. But for every copy sold, perhaps I could donate a pound to the club's official charities? I would happily do so should the sales go well. No Romani in the book, brb. Although, there are more than enough tinkers hanging around in the murky background. Oz, you will able to order the book from Amazon - should you wish to do so!
Welcome back Ponders All sounds very exciting, any chance of the blurb? Harthurcanute has vast comic potential
My nephew works with Harthacanute's bastard daughter and they go clubbing together with some of the cast of "the only way is Essex". He told me that 5 silver pennies from every sale will go towards building sea-defences to stop Vikings under Romm the Dahl and "Madman" Svensson destroying the Thames Barrier and flooding the Valley. Yes, there will be pictures, with captions in Runic. Incidentally her boyfriend scored seven goals for Stapleton Tawney British Legion on Sunday. Worth our scouts having a look.
