It's 2023, of course we should have a digital solution for everyone who can use it. I have 70 year old relatives who use smart phones comfortably at this point. I'm not suggesting everyone will, but surely we're down to the remaining 1%. Not having another option is a bit silly though, there should be some sort of exception option.
If you read small print on conditions of having a season ticket you are not supposed to lend it out. Not that anyone takes any notice I certainly dont
I refuse to have a mobile phone. They'll be a fair few who either don't own a mobile phone or don't have a smartphone if they do.
If it's going into your Google/Apple wallet, then it most likely will be an NFC contactless thing like when you use your phone to pay for stuff instead of your card (contactless payments), or like the POP card for the Metro for those who use that. Basically, you'll never have to physically go into your Google wallet (or Apple) and open your season card to be able to get into the stadium. Simply unlock your phone, hold it up to the scanner and it'll automatically recognise your season card. It is great in fairness, but to have it as the ONLY option is a little short sighted and the club should continue to offer a physical card if necessary, maybe even for a small surcharge.
My grandad is 86 and is on fb and has an Iwatch and iPhone we’ve just got loads of moaning bastards as fans imo
Really? None of my elderly relatives do, so does that mean they can't go to the match if they want to?
People need to man up and stop ****ing moaning at everything. Move with the times and stop patronising old people by assuming they can't handle technology
He give examples of his elderly relatives who dont have phones. He's never assumed anything. Why so angry about this?
I am not moaning, I am stating the bleeding obvious, that not EVERYBODY has a smart phone (especially older folks) and why should it be a pre requisite to own a mobile phone to go to a football match?
Because the year is 2023 and the club has committed to reduced paper and plastic waste. My 83 year old auntie is a absolute techy whizz. It's so patronising to suggest the "older folks" don't have smart phones or couldn't handle using them
I'm not the angry one, I find all this wailing and gnashing of teeth that everything the club does highly amusing
Because they are preventing many life long fans from attending matches. I very much doubt for example that George Forster has a smart phone. He has attended more matches than you have had hot dinners and given literally 1000's of hours of his time (unpaid) to help the club and it's fans. So in effect you are saying that someone who has never been to a match in their lives but who has a smart phone deserves to go but George doesn't. I presume you have a mobile phone so it's a case of "I'm alright Jack".
No they aren't. These life long fans will cope. It's extremely disingenuous to suggest they can't be expected to manage with a smart phone
