Supporters will have a new way to enter the Stadium of Light on matchdays from the 2023-24 season, with the launch of digital season tickets.

Following a comprehensive upgrade to the stadium’s entry system, all physical season cards will be discontinued upon the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.

Supporters will receive their 2023-24 digital season ticket via email and will be able to download and store it directly to their smartphone using Apple Wallet (IOS) or Google Wallet (Android).

A digital season ticket is the safest, most convenient, and flexible way to receive your match ticket, whilst increasing security and protection against fraud.

Once familiarised, the move to digital season tickets will also ensure a faster entry to the Stadium of Light for all supporters and the transition also forms part of the Club’s long-term sustainability goals to reduce paper and plastic use.

    Digital renewals

All 2023-24 digital season tickets renewed online via the Club’s e-ticketing platform will be processed free of charge, with supporters wishing to renew in-person advised that a £10 service charge will be incurred.

Fans are informed that the Stadium of Light ticket office will not process digital season tickets renewals on first team matchdays to reduce queues and ease congestion.

This information will be clearly signposted at the Stadium of Light ticket office in addition to being communicated directly to supporters on matchdays upon joining the queue.

Fans are also encouraged to check their e-ticketing account prior to the renewal process commencing to ensure we successfully deliver your digital season ticket and provide additional updates throughout the renewal period and beyond.

    Digital support drop-in service

The adoption of digital season tickets replicates many Premier League and EFL Clubs and follows the successful introduction of digital only match tickets at the Stadium of Light in 2022.

However, we appreciate this change could present challenges for some supporters and we are committed to supporting fans throughout the transition from physical season cards to digital season tickets

The Club will be running a digital support drop-in service at the Beacon of Light in partnership with the Foundation of Light and subject to demand, and to ensure the service is accessible to all supporters requiring assistance, the Club is also exploring an additional digital support touchpoint in the city centre.

Details of the digital support drop-in service, including confirmed venues and opening hours, will be communicated shortly via the Club’s digital platforms and match programme, and external print publications.

Further resources, including video tutorials and ‘how to’ guides, will also be accessible to all fans throughout the build-up to the 2023-24 season.

If you have any additional questions, please consult our FAQs, and if your issue still isn’t resolved, please contact our Ticket Office by emailing [email protected] and they will be happy to help.

I suppose at least the 10% discount on food and drink will make up for it if you arrive the ****ing day before

It will cause a lot of people problems. IMO.

And what if you can't go and want to lend it to your mate? Or you share one, which I know some do? Or your phone battery fails? Etc.

Idea okay, but not as a compulsory one.

I’m all for moving with the times but this will cause problems for a lot of people.
I know of 3 or 4 fellas of the top of my head who will be spitting feathers when they hear this. As already stated not everyone has a smartphone

A stupid move IMO. I've come across this here about ten minutes ago and already two lads I know have said they won't do it. Maybe they'll relent, but it's a bad sign when they think that way.

So if you dont have a smart phone you cant go to the match...bad move...as is no cash turnstyle in my eyes...older generation will struggle...cash turnstyle will help those last min decisions to go to have...not everyone has smart phone or comportable paying contactless...we should be be excluding elements of our support

Its great when it works, but I'm a ST holder at Brighton who use digital tickets and all it takes is for 1 of the machines to not work properly and it causes mayhem, all the people behind you in the queue getting pissed off, missing the kick off etc....

Re sharing tickets my son just suggested that a screenshot should work as a way of sharing.

I wish they would bring back a book with a voucher in for each game. I would be much more comfortable with that.

I don't want to buy a ****ing phone to put in my pocket
