Good Morning, It's Friday 3rd March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Consortium to buy Leeds have links to the White House

Elland Road journalist Phil Hay has disclosed that the consortium put together by the 49ers Enterprises, consists of roughly ten backers all investing between £20m and £70m. It is understood that Australian businessman Peter Lowy is one of the ten, and also hints that a political figure with links to the White House could be involved.

According to Hay, the monies are in place, but the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers are holding off until they know which division Leeds will be playing in next season, before parting with their monies. Radrizzani was never in it for the long haul. His vision of waking the sleeping giant, flogging it for all it was worth, and moving on, has been well documented since he took charge just over five years ago.

"49ers Enterprises, though, decided to try and bring forward the timing of its buyout by attempting to conclude it this season. There were a couple of reasons for this. The first was that the group had the funding in place to finance the purchase so was ready to proceed. Our understanding from speaking to people involved is that the consortium it has put together includes around 10 different parties, each ready to commit between roughly £20million and £70million to the initial buyout — so bigger investors alongside smaller investors."

"It’s no secret that Peter Lowy is one of those involved. According to information given to us last month, there is one US political figure with Washington links in the background. At least one of the parties in an investment firm. But the name above the door would be 49ers Enterprises, which is fronting the process."

"A second reason is that Leeds have substantial bills ahead of them this year, some of them instalments owed on transfers made during the past three seasons (Leeds like most clubs rarely, if ever, pay for a player up front. Most fees are staggered over a period of time.). Ideally, 49ers Enterprises wanted those pending costs to be factored into the price of a deal done now. But relegation has complicated everything because put simply, the deal as it was originally proposed and at the level of price Radrizzani wants is contingent on Leeds staying up. With 14 games to go, that’s far from guaranteed."

"In short, Leeds would not be valued at half a billion pounds in the EFL and 49ers Enterprises, understandably, would not be prepared to pay that amount. There have been talks about finalising an agreement now but with a caveat in the contract that the takeover can only proceed in its present form if Leeds are still a Premier League club at the end of the season. In those circumstances, there’s a very strong chance that 49ers Enterprises officially take control from the beginning of July onwards."

Would Radz sell if Leeds were relegated

49ers Enterprises would still want to purchase Leeds Utd, lock stock and barrell, even if the worst were to happen according to Phil Hay. The problem that arises is, the club could lose up to 50% of it's value if they were to get relegated, leaving Andrea Radrizzani in a massive quandary.

Radz paid circa £50m for the club just over five years ago, and with a lot of hard work & investment, has woken the sleeping giant, and is now ready to flip it. The difference between the two parties is that the Italian was never in it for the long haul, whilst the consortium put together by Paraag Marathe are. Radrizzani is unlikely to sell the club for half what he expected to get, yet he will know that outside of the top flight, the conditions are unforgiving, as Leeds found out the last time they were relegated, back in 2004. According to Hay:-

"According to people spoken to by The Athletic, the struggle this season has not negatively affected 49ers Enterprises’ long-term interest in owning and running Leeds. There is, seemingly, a good chance that it would want to purchase the club even if Leeds went down."

"But those circumstances would require a different deal at a different price and at the stage when we published this article in January, there was no fixed agreement in place between Radrizzani and 49ers Enterprises about exactly what happens in those circumstances."

Ever wondered why there is no mobile phone coverage at ER

Have you ever wondered why you can't get any mobile phone reception at Elland Road? Contrary to popular belief, there is no conspiracy theory, it's simply the networks can't cope with the amount of phones in a small congested area, all vying for reception. There are two solutions. You can switch to a 3G band, which will have far less traffic, or ask someone in the Press box for the password to the Wifi.

    Morning all…

I’ll be forever grateful to Radz for transforming us into a proper club and buying the ground back, he had to undo years of mess from the previous garbage we have had.

He rolled the dice for this season, he should have packed up straight after the Brentford game last year. He’s been slow and weak on decision making this season, if he’s gambled and failed he’s only himself to blame, he rolled the dice not us.

The 49ers will be better than Radz if it is finances that we are seeking, sadly I don’t see them as the answer to make us a top team, we could be being sold to much worse, likewise there are better.

I just hope we stay up this season and next enjoy a better season, hold on to our better players and hopefully see them reach their potential

Agree with all that but will add one more controversial item.
Cellino did a serious slashing of funds, staff overheads etc which tidied up the landscape a lot for Radz. If Cellino hadn't been stupid enough to buy the club without due diligence, I dread to think where wed be today. By the way does anyone know if those chancers GFH are still in business or what's that chancer they had in court up to now

Morning everyone it's time to sell no matter what league we end up in. If rads keeps us if we are relegated then where will his funding for making payments come from. Well he will do what he did before and sell the best players. We are then stuck with players like bamford/roberts/james/costa. Rodrigo /gnonto/adams /summerville and a few more would be gone.

Well done Radz for bringing the club back to life. Would have preferred the sale to have happened last summer and the 49ers would have then invested more and maybe even sacked Marsch before Xmas…. Time for Radz to go as he cannot do any more we need deeper pockets

    Morning all

In reality, his optimum time to sell was probably at the end of our first season back in the PL. The momentum was there right then to spring forward, which I fully believed would happen. If serious investment was made that summer and the following couple of transfer windows we would, almost certainly have been much stronger than we are now. Having said that, I am not sure what the FFP constraints would have been at that moment in time?

Can't argue with anyone, the time has come regardless of which division we are in. Even if we are relegated, Rads increases his investment five fold, you can't always look at what you could have won, there comes a time to cash in and take what is there. Not sure that he would enjoy trying to do it all again as much as he did first time either.

Quite… he was blissfully ignorant first time round. Now he knows just what a bollock the whole gig is.

You can please all of the people none of the time, and none of the people all of the time… and you can’t please any of the people any of the time.

… as someone never said about being a football chairman.

Tell you what, it is quiet on here today so I had a look at that JA606 forum that you go on sometimes. Fecking hell, if that Jonty started posting on here he would make Eire look more positive than Alioski <yikes>

flatterer… ‘occasionally fringing on almost sensible’ perhaps.

Internet forums are the same the world over… lots of loud mouthed opinionated clueless idiots with closed minds, who want everyone to know how they clever they are, whilst demonstrating a remarkable incapacity to take on and evaluate alternative opinions.

But enough about me, how’s trix with you Marcos?
