That's not down to Ruben though. That's entirely the fault of Rasmus Superbrain Ankersen. So clever he'll relegate us twice.

I'd like to think you're right with your first point and your final one has brought home to me that the game is up for this season. It now feels very much like the year we were relegated under that imposter from Portsmouth, pretending to be our manager. Decisions not going our way, lack of ideas as to where the goal is, or even the point of the game, many players giving the ball away, being careless with their attitude. I honestly thought we still could pull off a great escape but after tonight it feels like nothing is going to stop our slide into the Championship, which in fairness has been going on for the best part of two seasons. I very much hope I'm proved wrong and will be delighted to put my hands up, should I be so. I actually felt embarrassed about my wearing a Saints scarf on the train, never had problem that for years.

It’s nowhere near as bad as that…

…it’s much worse. At least those players had some fight and balls. This team is literally pathetic.

I take your point but the inevitability of it feels the same.

That season was my 4th year of uni, I wasn’t going to games and wasn’t following the team closely.

Are we really worse? Or is it because we’re going through it right now?

The most frustrating thing is that whilst we have been so poor throughout the season, so have about 4/5 other sides so we aren’t completely cut adrift. It is very possible that at kick off at home to Leicester a win would see us off the bottom and only 1 point from safety.

Just shows how **** the bottom 4/5 teams are that we still are in with a chance despite how bad we have been all season

    Yeah I totally agree.

I honestly preferred watching that other team though. At least they flew into tackles. I remember Prutton getting sent off etc.

What do this lot do? Honestly they are all powderpuff. Just utter boring, heartless, gutless ****s that are embarrassing the city and the club.

Only JWP, Lavia, KWP and I guess McCarthy can really hold their heads up and say they deserve to wear the Southampton shirt. Djenepo impressed tonight, but over his saints career has done nowhere near enough.

The rest are honestly stealing a ****ing living. They are horrific. They are slow, can’t pass, can’t tackle, can’t shoot. Horrendous tactically. Stupid & gormless with and without the ball. League 2 opposition outwitted & outworked us.

Lowest point as a saints fan for me. I am ****ing raging. I don’t know if I can take much more of this club.

TBF he picked the exact same 11 players for the 2 league games, got 2 completely different outcomes though.

I would say that he did indeed pick the best 11 available at the time.

Now he needs to keep Macca in goal, KWP at RB, Salisu in for Bedders, Sulemana in place of Moi and Che up front, obviously provided they are all fit.

That to me is the strongest 11, others like Moussa and Theo can be options off the bench.

Stick with that team as much as you can and you might start to gel. Let's see what RS does at Leicester.

We had some good players then. No standard stars, but workmanlike spine. We don’t have a leader in defence and can’t buy a goal.

I’ve never seen such low ratings on the BBC site. JWP highest at 4.38

Yeah awful at attacking. Why our wingers don’t just put in an early ball? Why they have to try and take on one more man or get to the byline? 9/10 times they miss the opportunity to whip it in, instead pass it back to the supporting player, then another pass or two until eventually it’s back with the CBs on the halfway line. And then they pump it long. Atrocious to watch.

Just one last thing - I think we saw tonight why Edozie isn't ready to start games yet.

I don’t think Perraud once overlapped, hugged the byline and got a decent cross in did he? No width,

Most of the new signings aren’t. Mara isn’t, Alcaraz barely. Orsic nope. Even TP and Sulemana aren’t really.

Funny thing though, if we had last season’s team still, then most of these new guys being added - individually, steadily - would have been a real asset. As it is, chucking them all in together is a f*cking mess.

Just got back & trawled thro here. Spineless, abject, useless performance. Armstrong, Aribo, no words. Mara & Eloise both ineffective but young. Orsic & Alcarez would struggle to impose themselves in Grimsby’s team. When Djenepo & Walcott take credit, it really is a red flag, seriously. DCC? agree with what’s been written here; how can such an experienced player be made a total fool of? Lyanco? He’s just odd & will never be at this level. Just can’t believe that Grimsby, 64 places (?) below us & we offered nothing. 2 dubious pens but difficult to argue against & regardless, we only scored 1 & a defender at that. Our offensive line this evening performed disgracefully (a little credit to Dj). Selles asked for a reaction after that ****e on Sat & got well & truly twatted, as have us the fans this whole season. I’m surprisingly calm & accepting of all that’s thrown at us now &
nothing really surprises me. Leicester Sat eve & I expect another joyous team reaction. 0-3
