We can pretend our support is great all we want and numbers wise it is, but during games, it's pretty ****e in terms of vocal support. It's the same at SJP if we are honest about it.
SJP has been on and off for a while. But the football has to come first; feels very much too predictable, we're not taking chances and what I think is happening is there's a "here we go again" feeling from the stands.
Would be more demanding of a plan B. Think we need something to fall back on, different style or something perhaps. But the issue is, we are so dire at set pieces. Against Man U, in truth, we should have sat back more, soaked up pressure, hit them on the return, nick something from a set piece. but we lined up and played as we have played all season, it was Man Utd who were happy to soak up pressure and hit us on the return. After the first they went into the second gear, after the second, they put the car into park and watched netflix on their phones.
Only thing I'll disagree with is that we TRIED to play like we have all season, but the last couple of months we've looked absolutely shot in terms of both fitness, then latterly confidence. So we're knackered, trying to play a high press against teams who have long since worked out the Bruno/Tripper/Almiron "trick". We were fortunate to not be 3-0 down by HT. We then didn't remotely look threatening. Man U just put 6 at the back and let us have the ball, because they can just get it forward at will and, like the Liverpool match, 4-0 wouldn't have flattered them - and they didn't even play that well.
Teams are working us out like, allowing us on to them then hitting on the break, same as the Liverpool game really.
Yeah, it's obvious really, when you think about it. We have the slowest full backs in the PL, Schar's not quick either and the defence doesn't really have cover. So bring us forward, then hit on the break. The added problem is we have very few leaders who can manage a game on the field and are relying on the same "creativity" Ashley gifted us. We were the counter attackers, with ASM and Almiron adding pace, but neither of them can do a thing in congested defences when we're controlling the ball. The pass & move was child-like, particularly from Almiron.
There's just better teams than newcastle.. Newcastle are no better than Aston Villa Brighton or Fulham tbh. They had a very good run that's all and people started thinking they'd become top 4 quality. Newcastle have made huge fwd steps but are quite simply not that good yet.
I don't get people saying it was a good effort etc, i thought we were poor and hardly layed a glove on them. Very disappointing for a final. It was easy for Man Utd.
Actually, it's one of those games where there is almost nothing we can do to win, plain and simple they were always winning that match. They had a plan, it worked. We couldn't get through and don't have the quality or experience to find a way. I think it'll be another two years from now before we have a good chance of winning silverware.
Live at weatherby told Eddie Roly says your tactics are ****. Maxi is ****, tripps is ****, miggy is **** and burn is **** and he needs to play 4-2-3-1
De gea made two world class saves we had 61% possession..I personally never thought I'd see the day man united parked the bus vs us for 45 minutes. They have a very good defence and a sting in their tail up front and we don't. They managed the game , but if we'd got the 1st goal I think we might have won that game. Unfortunately de gea saves from max, they score a minute later.
Once they were two up they were always going to give us possession, it doesn't mean we played well, we did **** all with it.
We were playing the best of the two sides before the 1st goal by a margin.. my point is that the1st goal was vital yesterday. Barcelona looked worse than us.
They don’t get steak beaks and bacon n cheese wraps from greggs on the plane and can’t risk injuries trying to piss in turbulence
