This thread is not an attempt to get bites. I put it up to stop this repetitive ‘debate’ from ruining match threads.

I have no idea how to add options to the voting choice once it is set up. hopefully a mod can help add a simple “yes” category, or tell me how to.

    Anyway, FTM

It's hard to have a debate on the match thread without mentioning the striker situation tbf, especially when it is costing us points.

I think it comes down to whether you think the club are being ambitious enough. Slow and steady progress, or have a good go at promotion if the opportunity is there.

Everyone isn’t going to agree on the best path.

    Edit:

I voted for Yes, just yes. We’ve made remarkable progress and play some great stuff. Not signing a decent centre forward is hindering the team and it’s frustrating. TM has mostly been diplomatic and said the right things. I can’t blame him for having a whinge after the Coventry game as it must be a bit demoralising.

On the flip side, bringing that centre forward to the club must have been a ridiculously hard job. We’re not going to pay a big fee, we’re looking for good value, and for a player that can step up to the league above.

Tony Mowbray is the one who will be sacked if it goes tits up not Speakman. I think he has a right to comment.

You can see his frustration, especially when he was being interview after the Coventry game.

What are you debating though. We’re not as good without LND up top, or another top striker? Everyone agrees on that.

If it’s about who we coulda/shoulda signed, why don’t you get that thread rolling?

It’s hard to understand what they saw in Gelhardt based on the metrics you would look for for this side

The only thing I can think of would be playing him alongside Stewart if he had stayed fit, he isn't a striker who can lead the line.

Really feel for the lad as I think he would have been class alongside Stewart.

To be fair Amad hadn't won a lot of people over after the same amount of games that Geldhart has played so far, and now he's probably our best player.

He's got his first goal thanks to a quality ball from O'Nien and his own attacking instincts so let's see how he does.

Does this suggest that Stewart was supposed to play every minute of the rest of the season?

If he was supposed to be a Broadhead type then that should have been the third striker

    At least Broadhead could run

You could tell Amad had something in the Watford game when he first linked up with Roberts (third sub appearance). you could see where he would fit in the side. He came into his own when Simms came back and the team functioned properly

Gelhardt now had 6 starts and don’t see how where or why the recruitment team think he fits into the way we play

It's a totally different scenario tbf. Gelhardt has been thrown in at the deep end whereas Amad paddled in and out of the water for quite a few games.

After that Watford game he played short periods in the Preston and Blackpool games, we failed to score in either. After that he was given another sub appearance when we also failed to score.

So that was half a dozen games and he didn't start the next one at Swansea. At that point we'd seen flashes of talent but he wasn't scoring and I don't recall you, or anyone else, saying he should be starting every game.

You can't say you could see where he would fit into the team because he wasn't even in it at that point despite us being without Simms and Stewart.

I've liked the 10 minutes I've seen of Isaac L, hopefully another player who can have a great impact like Amad. A French journalist likened him to the next Thierry Henry.

Imagine these two feeding of that.

Mowbray has now had a week to work with Gelhardt and getting the front four into goal scoring positions. I’m expecting a big improvement on Saturday. Well hoping for.
