I reckon that first half puts paid to the ‘park the bus’ theory. MK Dons have come out and played and are unlucky to be behind.
A great win, well done boys, and yes, Plymouth lose 5-2!! We are one the way, Morsy leads by example.
What stuck out to me like a sore thumb today was how slow we are to recycle the ball. When it pops out to 25 yards we need to ping it back into the box or out wide for a first time cross and then be first in behind. Or at least we need to mix it up and do that half the time. All the extra touches gives the opposition all the time in the world to reset and get plenty of bodies to block any shots. Davis was by far the worst culprit but they were all at it. The other one was the long balls. Unless we have got support up there to pick up the second ball it’s a waste of possession. Much better second half to the first though, when we were awful. Deserved the win in the end.
A word of praise for the ref. Best we have had all season. I especally liked the way she let the game flow, wasn't duped by feign fouls, and didnt stop play when a pretend head injury could have stopped our rhythm. I liked how she dealt with a big huddle of both players and clearly explained what was going to happen and why. She over ruled the lineseman several times too. She bossed it and I am sure the players respected her too. With the dreadful standard of refs in lower leagues, she cant help but go far.
Yeah I felt a bit sick some of the comments coming from the crowd, but toward the end of the game even the idiots behind me admitted ‘we’ve had worse refs this season.’ I’d say she’s the first one we’ve had to actually do her job. Not that I agreed with some of the bookings, by any means.
It wasnt pretty but 3 points is what we came for so job done, and apart from a goalmouth scramble MK didnt offer much but in the first half their two wingers looked impressive and gave our full backs a bit of a hard time, then up stepped Morsy leading from the front to score a great goal, M O M for me. Great Town support in a terrific stadium that their few supporters dont seem to appreciate, and i couldnt help thinking what we could do with a stadium like that.
