As I said it is an area thing. Though landlord can impose their own restrictions and insist kids are out earlier than what the couldvsta
The police didn’t like people out and about late either. Look at the restrictions on the nightclub on the Manxman. Reducing the numbers and opening hours. A nightclub that had to shut at 10pm. Anywhere else would have made the most of something like that in a waterfront setting,

**** off, soft twat. Accepting second rate and thinking things are better than elsewhere is what holds .Hull back.BTW, you haven’t told OLM he is negative about Hull and hates the place because he won’t invest money in Hull but will elsewhere.
If what England has to offer is so much better why do so many on here choose to go elsewhere on holiday two or three times a year?

That's an odd argument TBF. You can like where you live but still want a change / something different for your holidays.

A nightclub that has to close at 10 has obviously had additional restrictions placed on the licence. Bar near me had that due to it being a violent cesspit - then when the curfew didn't work they just revoked the license and shut it down.

It was because the police and council thought alcohol and being on the water was dangerous. Other places where people are treated like adults cope. Not to mention at that time the police in Hull seemed to be on a mission to have Hull closed and everybody in bed before midnight. What should have been a vibrant area around the waterfront became like a ghost town.

Well, he doesn’t think it a place worth putting money into. If I had said that you would have come out with your usual crap about me hating Hull.

Most definitely. Loads of people have vacations in countries that are ****ed but have lovely beaches for a couple of weeks.

However, that's also not what you said originally.

But I never stated that what England has to offer is so much better.

My original point was that in English towns, similar in population to Valencia/Lisbon and also smaller, there's a lot on offer for families to socialise, meet, dine out in the evenings etc. It's there if you want it and plenty do.

Valencia is same population as Leeds. I know where I would rather spend a week and where
i would find more to see and do. Lisbon is same population as Sheffield. Same applies.

Same with Amsterdam and Leeds which have similar populations. People go on breaks to Amsterdam many times. They wouldn’t to Leeds.

Aye, happy days working as a 17 year old in '64, on Joyland Dodgem ride, and occationally the Walzer ride. Funny how I'd forgotten the name "Joyland" as we always called it "Brown's Amusements", until my mate from Hessle, who worked only on the Walzers, brought me a glossy book about the place about 10 years ago. Loads of lasses used to frequent the cafe attached to Joyland, my most vivid memory along with the incessant playing of The Nashville Teens hit record "Tobacco Road' which was released that summer. Some weekends if it was our day off, we'd travel to a dance hall in Driffield for a knees up (and a grope :emoticon-0100-smile). Recall once sleeping overnight in a cabbage field ! "You Really Got Me" also played constantly.

    Yes, the memories. <cracker>
