Think he has done a good job for us since he came to the club , however I am a bit at a loss about him altering our playing style to combat Rotherham , I can understand resting some of the players but to throw away a working blueprint when facing a team that has struggled in recent weeks doesn’t make sense . The recruitment model is geared to having two players for every position has been thrown out of the window by making the changes that we did , I could be wrong but we should be making the opposition be thinking how can they stop us - not the other way round and handing them an advantage . Despite being very unlucky with injuries we were in a play off place due to the formation and playing style we adopted which suited the players and they knew their roles and I was at a total loss why we changed everything . At least he put his hands up and said he got it wrong let’s hope we get the show back on the road at Coventry with a win - last night was painful to watch !!!
https://www.a-love-supreme.com/single-post/gaffer-praises-michut Despite a disappointing game against Rotherham, Tony Mowbray believes Edouard Michut is dealing well with the physicality of English football, and has praised his football intelligence... GETTING STUCK IN "He's got a great spirit within him. He's a waif of a boy and yet he uses every ounce of that body to get stuck in, really." TECHNIQUE VS PHYSICALITY "He wriggles underneath people's arms and gets past them. He's a very clever footballer. I don't think he has suffered through the physicality of the game, but he understands that his talent and technique has to overcome the physicality of lesser footballers who are trying to stop him. That's always been the case - some of the world's greatest footballers have been diminutive and slight. He understands that, he just has to be super-good with the ball and let his strengths overcome the strengths of the opposition and he'll be fine. I don't think I've sat and worried about the physicality of footballers of a certain type." CLEVER PLAYER "As long as they can handle the ball, and handling the ball is very easy for Edouard - he doesn't need to look at the ball to control it and see the pass and the weight of it - he's a very clever kid. He's doing exceptionally well, and hopefully he just keeps on growing into the team."
Cheers Tony, put my mind at rest. Would hate to think you valued a physical presence over ability. Seen enough big athletes playing the game to last me a lifetime. Give me these technicians any day of the week.
If only someone one here would take note of this. I think he still gets stuck in and wins the ball plenty. He was having thr better night of the two against Rotherham.
