https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php Probably out of date, doesn't quote a source. https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...thampton-football-club-premier-league-2022-23 Looks fit enough in training!
Yep, always been same. Not 100% but virtually is about right & yes, not looking good. Still, we might be “the one”!
Hope it goes better then the last time bottom played second bottom. Massive, massive game. Kind of feels make or break.
I've been thinking about this and I think a draw wouldn't be a disaster for either side. It's so tight from Palace down and with the amount of games remaining you can't rule out any of the bottom 8 from being relegated IMO. I don't expect Palace to get into real trouble but they are on a bad run and Zaha is most likely leaving on a free in the summer (could we see another Fraser situation?) so I'm including them for now. Point is, for me this game isn't a must win for either side - it's a must not lose. Having said that if I was offered a draw right now I'd say no because I think this game is there to be won from our POV with their injury list and manager situation.
No it isn't. I don't understand this. There are still plenty of games to go. A draw would not be a bad result here.
Saving grace is that it’s the same for them, possibly even worse considering they’re home. Said already, I’m ok with a no-lose but would need to beat Leicester then. Much better to beat the Whites & then “easier” vs Foxes.
One game at a time. Every point counts, and every point will have to be fought for. Three would be great on Saturday, and is certainly achievable; but one point is better than none, especially against relegation rivals.
I know you put “easier” in inverted commas, but did you watch Leicester at Man Utd last weekend? They were seriously good with Utd scoring their first against the run of play. They seem to be getting it together and a point against them wouldn’t be a disaster.
If we only get 1/2 points from the next 2 games then we will have to beat a top team at some point to stay up, it’s as simple as that really. After these two games we have Bournemouth, Fulham and Palace at home left and that’s about it in terms of winnable games on paper. You could add Forest and West Ham away as well, but they are the harder than Leeds away where some are saying a point is fine. We won’t be down if we only get 1/2 points from the next two, but it’s would be incredibly difficult to stay up. Even 4 or 6 points would still leave us touch and go
It will be touch and go for the rest of the season. I'm not saying a draw would be fine, just not a bad result and certainly not game over if we do draw.
Yes agreed & then I suppose we revert to the “next 2 game” discussion. 2x draws might not be disastrous, IF other results go our way, which is anyone’s guess looking at last weekend. With only a point from LC, it’s certainly more important we get max vs Whites …… and tbf it’s the teams around us where we need to gain, if we have a chance. Beat them & LC becomes “slightly easier”!
I think that it is important that we don’t lose on Saturday...not just for the obvious reason, but because of the need to maintain momentum and to keep the fans in the stadium firmly onside. A great man once pointed out that we shouldn’t get too high with a win or too low with a loss, but that’s hard as fans who have suffered recently. Not losing (whilst hoping to thrash Leeds 10-0 ) will keep us going.
Any update on their new manager? Has he been able to take training yet? Could be a benefit for us if he hasn't.
