Stainsey ...stop being silly. I know quite a few people who are now on the breadline...selling their goods to heat their rented flat, selling their phones or computers to buy food.

I have just bought some art work from a guy who cannot pay his flat rental..

So what do you make of the statement "96% of Internet users having a smartphone ".

How many people on the breadline can afford a smartphone...when finding 30p for a meal is a problem.

Come the Tory revolution these people will be disenfranchised as they won't be able to vote.

I thought you at least could see through this
was the art any good
did you get a cheap deal from the starving artist

Beth will apologise soon I’m sure.

The figures actually surprised me also

I will not apologise any time soon. NO.

You lot obviously know a lot of rich people. We are doing okay financially.. but my hubbie has a basic old Nokia phone...because he can do everything he needs to at home. So smart phone owners is only 50% in this house...and in his sister/ brother-in-law house is 0 because they have a landlines

My friend ( an epilepsy specialist nurse) has just sold all his electrical equipment and his guitar which he uses to gig, because he cannot afford his rent, and food on his salary, after his dog...his only companion had to have an operation when another dog bit him.

My daughters friend, who was a retail manager, has sold everything to stay in rented accommodation, after being made redundant and then taken back on a zero hours contract.... she goes round to her friends to use their Internet to apply for better jobs.

Live in the real world please

I will not apologise...don't you care Stainsey that the poorer people will be disenfranchised if this idea comes about. Have you forgotten about what we are actually arguing about here.

We are discussing that you incorrectly stated that ‘a lot of upright britishers’ can’t afford a smartphone….whereas I proved that was in fact incorrect.

You’re now making it an emotive issue….I’m just dealing in facts.

I’ll accept your apology when it is forthcoming

OK.. Statista says 30% of over 60 do not own a smart phone ....

and remember ....these surveys tend to ask people who have easy access to surveys...through the internet or through mail...through a stable domicile

20% of the population is over 60.. so that is probably 12 million people. And let's say a third of that..4 million people in that survey did not have access to Internet.

A sizeable amount ...when you add in all those people who cannot access surveys.

I an open to an apology...but know I won't get one ...so won't ask.

I repeat just remember what we are fighting about...a legislation that you may become disenfranchised without access to a smart phone.

Want to know why you are not up in arms about this Stainsey
