We were always going to tire after the high intesity start, especially with our concrete-booted midfield.
Real Madrid simply passed through our lines and easily nullified our "press"
Throw in the multitude of individual errors and we stood no chance.

I agree, it could have changed the game though or at least affected it. I think they would have still found a way and probably beaten us but not so heavily. It's a key moment and I don't understand it, it's not even looked at and nailed on for me, they check a handball later that was never a pen.

 

When we were two goals up we had less possession than Real Madrid. It's as our possession share went up that we lost control. This isn't unique to this game, we frequently do better when we have less possession.
