Kamara injury is a hamstring (who isn’t these days?!). Not bad. Probably won’t make Sheff Utd but likely to be ok for Preston.
Another three points and back in the playoff positions As previously pointed out Pedro was off his game and Davis was not effective up front today, Sarr was in and out of the game and Gapa was running faster than him Kone and Selma were our best players followed by Morris
Sarr had a weird game as usual. Didn’t do much overall but scored and assisted ! Davis seems too weak for someone who ought to be strong and lazy chasing the ball . Bit of a miserable reaction from some on Twitter . Yes sure it was far from perfect as it hasn’t been all season but we got some goals and won ! I mean yes West Brom had more of the play 2nd half but they were a goal down and made 2 changes (maybe that is where Bilic is weak ?) but it was hardly a smash and grab backs to the wall stuff .
Bilic says he's confident , players are back, but still doesn't look more than the sum of parts . He says plenty of time for training , one game a week , so no excuses really with the paper quality of the squad Play offs are often won by side with momentum at tail end of season , I'm sure that's his hope .
i also hope with a fitter squad at this stage with nealry all our top players in contention that that will take us through
I was surprised that Louza was only on for around ten minutes - thought his fitness had improved beyond that. Or did Bilic plan to save him for the next game - at Sheffield - where he may well be more needed?
Typical Championship game I thought. Loads of effort, but lots of errors. We become used to seeing PL games on TV where the level of the players is a step ahead of our league, and expect our players to perform in the same way. After a dearth of goals, we suddenly score three. This after an almost win against the league leaders, and so four points from two games in a run that we all said would be very difficult. How we come out of the game Saturday will tell us quite a lot about where we can expect our season to go I think.
indeed, agree with all your points , i watched sufc struggle to cope with wrexham , a supposed non league side, who are hugely organised/ motivated and physical as well as skilful , only in the dying minutes of the replay did they get beaten , sufc have since lost at home , hopefully another coming this weekend !
Absolutely awful decision by the asso for WBA's second equaliser... almost as bad as DB's pass to Hamza...
Had the pleasure of meeting Tony Coton last night. What a lovely guy. I went to the match with Mr Andy Snr, who for the first time revealed that 1944 was his first game (I wasn’t sure of the year). He shook Tony’s hand and thanked him for what he’d done for the club. “You’re welcome, mate!” said TC. Dad was properly choked up. It was lovely.
I ;enoy the 'atmosphere' ...which to my daughters annoyance means getting there early too..to 'soak ' it up... probably because i rarely go
That pass was 'coming' - for some reason we seem to be incapable of playing out from the back properly - always look shaky and susceptible to error when we try it, which unfortunately is all the time. West Brom, on the other hand, gave us a lesson on how it should be done, particularly in the first half. One of life's mysteries really.
Personally, I believe it is all about the pass - obvious seriously though if you pass the ball and the player has to check or take an additional touch it deteriorates from there, and pressure mounts. Bachmans last night was horrendous - he played the ball out poorly to Porteus who had two options play it long down the line or back to Bachman, he took the latter which was OK to do IMHO, but was probably the least preferable (he had no instruction or call from Bachman who should be telling him his options). It was at this point where inexplicably Bachman thought it was best to play the ball into Chowdray who had a player up his arse and absolutely no options to him as Porteus and Hoedt were closed down - not only that, the pass was poor and about two feet wide of where Chowdray was - That was a crazy decision given that Bachman could see all of this as it was in front of him and the ONLY option at that point was to hit it long
Although Bachmann has saved us many times this season, his kicking leaves me wondering if anyone says anything about it to him. Time and again he kicks it long, so long that it goes through to the other keeper. Rather than relieving the pressure, he is just giving the opposition the ball. Foster was not the best, but far better in my opinion.
