Rhodes was in my year at school, seemed a nice lad which is what Newcastle need rather than the likes of Ranger. He was good prospect for Ipswich and I have no idea why Roy Keane sold him (Keane seemed to only want players who used to play for Sunderland or were Irish).

 

I really like the look of him - I really think he can make the step up. Hopefully Clarky will let us have him on the cheap

I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, we need to run before we walk, in terms of transfers. Maiga is affordable, good and will want to prove himself. Bearing in mind we may not end up anywhere near Europe next season someone like Cisse is probably better than where we are and where we will probably be next season. We need to keep the momentum we have with hungry young players out to prove themselves, who will improve our squad but won't become the isolated superstar that was the signature of so many failed teams of the past.
