For some reason that put me in mind of this insane classic ... ... a song that could never be made these days
I loved it then and still do now, I love songs that take chances and do something different. This is another from a group with a great name who came, made a classic and vanished ...
Was Tammy Wynette connected somehow? To be honest I must admit I thought it was released a lot earlier than it actually was.
Absolutely nothing to do with the group. They just thought she was perfect so paid for her to fly over etc ... ... fair play to her for playing it so straight and taking a chance.
Went to a venue called 'Under the Stand' which turned out to be in the bowels of Stamford Bridge ... ... the only time I've been and wasn't concerned I'd end up in a punch up with the locals It turned out to be one of my favourite gigs I've paid for. The doormen let us in without queing and let us into the VIP area right next to the stage. I've no idea if the lass was a female by birth but, my word, what a performance ... spellbinding.
That's class...never heard of her. Cheers. She's like some kind of offspring from a wild night between one of the New York Dolls and Karen Carpenter
Apparently she'd written for loads of people including Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Cher, etc ... ... then was frustrated that they couldn't sing the songs as well as her. So she started performing and took on the style of Alex Harvey's slightly more reserved sister
Thats what she reminded me of, funnily enough. Never heard of her before, but really enjoyed the one you posted earlier. It's a great thread this....I've really widened what I listen to because of it, been a bit of a music discovery journey. Been some great stuff posted....loved the Wolf Alice one from a while back.
Same here mate and I like to think I have a really wide appreciation of music ... ... my son always asks, "When there's such great music around why do people listen to shyte?" This is another favourite of mine for the sheer mix of lunacy, drugs and musicality.
What gives you the impression drugs are involved..... Canny that....they look like a cross between Iggy Pop, The Pogues and Hawkwind.
Iggy Pop came on at my club, Rock City, and I was so thrilled I asked for the night off so I could just enjoy the show ... ... he was absolutely wasted, lasted 30 minutes and went off stage never to return. The only time I ever saw him but I'm still glad I was there
