If we get a performance at Leeds similar to today then it becomes an obvious choice to appoint him. Leeds game is basically a must-win game, even a point feels like it wouldn’t be good enough. But just a competent performance would be enough to appoint selles IMO.
Leeds is a must win game to them, IMO a must not lose for us. Yes, a draw does nothing, but it is away from home and is one point ticked off towards the total. To Leeds a draw is meh as we are directly below them and it is a missed opportunity to put space between us and it is a home game. That is my positive view on it.
Honestly, looking at the remaining fixtures I disagree. We have barely any easy games left. We are basically at the do or die point because Jones wasted all our winnable games
Just watched the first half all the way through. Amongst other things, it seems like Paul Onuachu isn't a donkey.
Erm....we did just beat Chelsea away. Even Jones beat Man City. We do have a habit of turning big teams over. I wouldn't dismiss games such as Spurs, City or Liverpool at home just yet.
Are we still going down? Yeah probably, but come on! We should all be basking in the warm glow of a really decent win against Chelsea away. Play like we did yesterday and it's by no means over. We'll still lose a lot of games along the way but it at least looks like they're prepared to go down with a fight. That's all I want. I don't give a **** about Jones anymore, Rasmus is still a twat but if the team at least shows that much effort, I'm behind them all the way. (I'm pleasantly slightly hung over this morning)
He is class. Really good touch and hold up play. I’d like to see the pace of Edozie and Sulemana either side of him at some point. It’s so ****ing nice to have hope again. And to see the players fighting for the shirt
I was dubious that he would fit in post-Jones, where we simply lobbed the ball at his head, but he's a good footballer that happens to be built like a skyscraper. Can't say I've ever seen a 6'7" striker doing stepovers 30 yards from goal before.
Agreed, I think that, yesterday morning, a lot of us had accepted that relegation was most likely. What we really wanted to see was some pride and passion and yesterday we got it in spadefuls. Seeing Perraud going mental for making a goaline block brought tears to my eyes. There is life in this team. The win is a bonus but I am more pleased with the spirit with which the win was achieved.
I don’t want Chelsea to sack Potter yet, because I don’t want our silly board to even remotely be tempted away from the current path.
Extended highlights from the OS. Good to hear Adam and Jo enjoying the football again. Jo’s “Get in there!” on the final whistle spoke for all of us I think! https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...ts-chelsea-southampton-premier-league-2022-23
He is very much a certain starter when fit for me and he could partner any one of Bedders, Salisu, DCC or Lyanco in a back four I just don't want to ever see the first two in the same XI again.
