We last led by two goals in a league match on February 25, 2022, when we won 2-0 against Norwich. Our last seven PL wins came by a single goal.
We have lost 16 league games this season 8 by 0-1, 4 by 1-2 1 moment of defensive or attacking brilliance (competence?) in two of those and we would be 17th and living the dream
Since Sports Republic purchased the club in Jan 2022, Saints have mustered 14 league wins out of 62 matches. 2022 : 5 wins | 22-23 : 6 wins | 23-present : 3 wins #Disaster
That’s 23%. I would be interested in seeing their loss %. One of the main issues with late Ralph, NJ and Selles was not just a poor win % but an inability to draw the games we couldn’t win.
Shhhhh. SR are brilliant. Nothing is their fault. They're brilliant owners apparently. I don't get why the fan base will blame successive managers, players and even other fans before realising SR have ****ed our club. There has not been one single benefit of having them.
They’re much better than Gao was. Do you remember when we had an owner who either couldn’t or wouldn’t get his money out of china. It was terrible, we had nothing to spend. It’s much better now, SR are really splashing the cash and you can see it on the pitch.
There has. Relegation didn't mean we were ****ed financially as a club as it would have had Gao still owned the club.
We were relegated because of Sports Republic! Not sure "we consistently ****ed up and got you relegated but hey at least you're not financially ****ed due to our mistakes" is a feather in their cap to be honest.
Maybe we wouldn't have been relegated without SR last season, who knows. But we were just about treading water in the league for years before SR bought out Gao and most accept that it was only a matter of time until relegation. If you're going to get relegated, better to do it with rich owners!
Yeah I am with RSS there. SR are pretty ****, but we are not at risk of financial ruin yet. Under Gao, if we had gone down (and we would have eventually), we'd be screwed. That though is the only positive I can see. However, it is a real positive. We may turn this around yet, I know in life many people who have been successful in spite of themselves, and SR may just turn out to be that.
But we didn’t go down under Gao did we? Just because we were closer than under Katarina, it doesn’t mean relegation was inevitable. SR came in, made bad decision after bad decision and we were relegated. It’s great that we’re financially ok, but no use if the owners are crap and still making bad decisions. I really want them to work but it’s hard to feel positive about them when every appointment they make turns out bad. I’m happy to be proven wrong, but we we’re better off under Gao.
We were limited with Gao. Not spending any money each window, what is the best you can hope for, realistically? Surviving at the bottom of the Prem as whipping boys every year? F*ck that. Yes, SR have cocked it up, badly, but if they turn it round and manage to get us back up in the next few seasons, then we have a much better chance of emulating the Villas and Brightons of this world.
