hull has an incredible old town

glasgow has had some big blockbusters filmed there and will continue to
the glasgow layout is very newyork esque, a complete grid system, which opens the door for them

and hull should and will absolutely continue to get movies and tv series filmed here

and i hope we go all out to get more

Which is all the more amazing given we were bombed to hell during WWII.

Things not improving at Hammonds, Mr Hugo Smokehouse and Burgr have now closed, there's only the Pizza place left.

It’s a real shame as it’s a fairly unique venue idea , we’ve used it a fair bit and like it but it just needs to be busy .

    Went in on Sunday
    Completely dead
There’s been a local producers thing on Saturday which meant one area was closed with just empty sleeves which made it look even worse
    Real shame

HoH is great, but something like that can't exist in isolation, you need more than one place to be a reason people will go into town & spend their money. It's too far from Humber Street to get any synergies going, and not close enough to the Arena & New Theatre to tap into the crowds on nights with shows. In an ideal world it should have been a springboard for other businesses to get some momentum in that area. I suspect most of their target customer profile go to Beverley (I do) to spend their cash locally.

I’m a big fan of monorails, the one in Las Vegas is unmanned and the stop announcements sounded like the voice from Running Man, the Disney one is very efficient in moving loads of people very quickly. They don’t take up much ground space and are fairly quiet, I’ve often wondered why they don’t have them in the UK

I went in Hammonds a few weeks ago and the whole experience was dreadful.

They’ve for some reason carved up the whole of the ground floor with a weird temporary grey wall, which doesn’t help the atmosphere. They’ve shoved all the drinkers to the back of the building so it looks completely empty from the outside. Of the food places, Mr Hugo and Burgr had one staff member on (working both places) who looked stressed out and the pizza place didn’t have some of the pizzas available. This was Saturday night.

It was half dead and they were pumping out loud grime music. The shopping area was empty but a complete mess, with empty bags and shelves littering the entrance as you walked in.

Hammonds could be great but it’s been badly badly managed since the start. A load of (non local) stock, at high prices and stuff you’d buy someone as a gift at Christmas. It’s still got potential but they really need some retail experts in fast to save it.

There's plenty of room to try things like a funky 70's retro pic a dish like the old one upstairs?
