    What to do is go in alone. They are legally obliged to ask if you want a witness. Put you're phone on record, you don't need to ask.

    If they don't ask you if you want representation or a witness if they sack you you take them to tribunal and get a packet.

    If they do ask then say yes.

    Not necessarily.

    It depends on the company's disciplinary procedures and what the alleged transgression is.

    If it's gone straight to a meeting that could result in termination bypassing the normal procedures of multiple warnings then the company must feel it's a serious issue. If the person has been warned repeatedly about their behaviour and received verbal, written warnings, suspensions then the company don't need to give any notice of an disciplinary meeting.

    The fact that they have given 20 hours notice is probably a good sign tbh.

    I think the bint has copy and pasted on to his letter/email and has made a balls of it as it mentions lateness and the latest he has clocked in is 7.29. He starts work at 7.30.

    Make sure he/she takes someone in with them. Anyone. Went through a disciplinary with my middle boy - I ran him to the meeting and he came out and asked me to come in. He has never had any disciplinary issues before. I tore the **** a new arsehole, my son got his bonus reinstated and the **** got his balls booted off management for being unprofessional.

    If he has a contract of employment then the company's disciplinary procedure will be in it. That's a legal document that they have to adhere to.

    In saying that his length of employment comes into it as well. If he's been employed for less than 3 months then they can pretty much do what they want and say he was employed on a trial basis.
