The Jones appointment is the mother of all ****ups here, not the Marsch non appointment. When others were calling for Ralph I always said be careful what you wish for. Getting rid of our PE teacher I don’t. Anyone will do better than him. If it is Selles so be it. We March On.
Could the Leeds/Saints game be the first ever match with both teams managerless. Another first for Saints in the PL. 9-0’s are quite common now, well for Saints they are. Maybe the future is freestyle. No manager, no tactics, no chance.
That's the trouble of not being in the boardroom, we tend to believe all the stuff which is also not from the actual boardroom. We just have to get on with what happens.
There was no urgency with dismissing Jones and there doesn’t appear to be any urgency recruiting a manager.
Oh essentially I am, but my my they have ****ed up and made it harder for us and themselves! Hopefully after a successful year in the championship and who knows who in charge we may enjoy another feel good surge.
They've never been impartial about anything remotely politically or religious tbf, so why start with football?
Maybe they have our head trainer in mind for the short term. Let’s face it if he don’t make managerial grade he just steps back to head trainer.
That all depends on your view, because anyone on the right will tell you that the BBC is some luvvie liberal entity, whereas everyone on the left will tell you it’s a Tory mouthpiece.
I am thinking that with the lack of any links or rumours at all, the club have decided to at least see how things go with Selles. If we had more time it wouldn't be an awful strategy, as it would be very low cost/risk, but as it is time is rapidly running out, it may already be up in fact.
Yeah the damage has already been done, and none of the names floating around are particularly inspiring. Give it to Selles and if/when we go down we can promote ourselves as a promotion favourite and hopefully attract a wider pool of managers than we can right now
Really sad that it has come to this. Not only are we going down, but the rest of this season will be so dull as we are pretty much giving up. Then we will not only lose good players like Lavia in the summer, but JWP will definitely go too. in Just 18 months SR will have cost us our premier league status and the potential of JWP becoming an all time club legend.
At least JWP won't lose out on his England place since he doesn't make the squad anyway but tbh I wouldn't have been surprised if he want's out even if we somehow survive. He must be sick of trying to do it all himself in a relegation scrap season after season. Can't blame him for wanting more than that at this stage in his career.
You really think the club would force him to stay? There will be interest from big clubs and it'll be a test to keep him even if we do survive.
They wouldn't force him but neither would they sell him cheaply. I would still expect Saints to demand upwards of 30mill for him at least, assuming no relegation release clause.
JWP is not in with a shout of the England squad anymore. There are too many decent young midfielders coming through. He's no spring chicken. IF we go down, we may say to a few of the players to give us until January 2024. If we're not clearly in the promotion mix, they then can move on in the transfer window. I would imagine someone like JWP might take that option, rather than deal with the upheaval of moving clubs (and homes, kid's schools etc.). Then again, he might consider it the perfect time for a fresh start. Ifs, buts and maybes!
One thing I don't think has been mentioned - Jones took his other first team coaches/PE teachers when he got given the boot, so who other than Selles is taking training now? (I am only half jokingly thinking Ankersen has enough of an ego to get involved!)
