The site's massive, but it actually attracts less than half the visitors Hull Fair gets.

Local ride operators were charged around £2k for the week to pitch a small kid’s ride as far back as the mid 80s. Food stalls were similar.

I can’t believe the Council lose money on the fair.

As always, prepared to be shot down, but I dont see the fascination of the club to have their training facilities adjacent to the ground. Is there another club that has...?. Imagine WHEN we get to the Premiership again a player coming down Anlaby Road unswept, unkempt and thinking WTF (actually this could be anywhere from South Hunsley in fairness) Then there's the noise and dare I say it pollution aspect. Surely to goodness, whilst Cottingham is a million away from perfect its a better option, Bishop Burton an even better one. How much is the Cottingham land worth... any ideas..?

It really seems like Hull Live has jumped the gun (again) and reported that it would impact Hull Fair knowing it would get clicks when in reality it seems all parties currently involved want a compromise that keeps the fair and allows for this development.

One thing I do hope with it is some better public transport links but regardless this has been long overdue on what is essentially barren land

That land is barren because when they developed the rest of Walton Street, that lump was too clogged up with the sewage from the area to build on.

Newcastle Town Moor gets a comparable amount of commercial usage to Walton Street Fairground: The Hoppings for a week, Newcastle Mela on August Bank Holiday weekend, the odd fun run and the start of the Great North Run.

The main difference between the two sites being that for the 50 odd weeks of the year in which the Town Moor isn't used it's a pleasant, green space somewhat akin to Beverley Westwood not a ****ing dump of a poorly surfaced temporary carpark which is crying out for urban re-development.

If acun really wants a set up like this then unfortunately we need to leave the current stadium. The area around it just doesn't fit/suit it. I know it most probably wouldn't be the popular option, but our own ground in a much better location would be better ( if that's the route they go down )

More realistic approach would be to buy some land outside of Hull ( Hull Ionians would be ideal ) and then build the sports complex / training ground etc.

40 acre site for sale in Cottingham.. The Lawns would be ideal and only 1 of the existing buildings is listed so make it the Hull City AFC Museum.

There’s a big plot of land near Makro on St Andrews Quay, prob not the easiest to get to, and not sure if it’s just been sold, but looks as big as Walton Street

Best site for the training facility is now occupied by Priory Wolves on Sid Smith site - it’s huge has several pitches and more space plus could extend further onto the adjacent farm land , security easy access. And already has a decent changing facility tho not pro std . It keeps it green belt too

The costs in a 12,000 stadum will not be the same as they are in a 25,000 capacity stadium, at a guess? perhaps half? It is a solution to a problem which is asked quite often, why cannot every local final be played on a 'community stadium' pitch? We know why but those requesting and asking the questions don't. It is only a proposal. Where do you think local finals, of all sports should be played?
Plus, nothing has been agreed yet. NOTHING.
