Not really surprising. He replaced Bielsa, who they loved, while playing a Bielsa-inspired system. For them he was always going to be the "we have ______ at home" meme in human form.
He really did suffer from their post savior mentally. I watch Leeds regualrly. Bielsa totally lost it at the end and was truly awful, the players just ran aimlessly around following their man anywhere and leaving massive holes. Marsch came in and stabilised the ship, kept them up with good football. This season he has had the side playing really good football but been hampered by injury. He most definately isn't perfect and still young but he is not as bad as those fans would have you believe, not by a country mile and their football wasn't that bad either, the opposite of that. They are now into my relegation faves because of the decision to get rid of Marsch.
There are some interesting comments from Leeds fans on the Athletic article about Marsch. Will try and post later - not all negative by any means. There's more nuance and context to it.
Not an actual link, just Darren Bents musings, but how hollywood would it be if Ralph went to Leeds and we got Marsch. If that happens you just know it is going down to the wire between us and leeds on the last day. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.hi...senhuttl-would-save-them-from-relegation/?amp
Really? I mean Ralph and Bielsa are comparable in that they were good before going mad, but Marsch and Jones aren’t in any way, and Jones didn’t suffer from unfair comparison to Ralph. He suffered because he was utterly dreadful.
Like one or two other so called ‘sleeping giants’ Leeds fans appear to have a sense of entitlement. We all know deep inside that a team is only as good as its results.
Apologies if already posted but here is an interesting article on how Marsch will likely utilise our current squad: https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/23321638.southampton-fc-look-expected-new-manager-jesse-marsch/ The list of wide players is shocking, partly because of how many there are, but more so that despite there being so many, most of them are crap!
Yeah, an interesting choice of nine which is realistically a choice of three - Sulemana, Stu and Edozie. I worry a bit for Orsic and DCC still, reading that.
We all know that common sense and logic have no place on football forums where the truth never gets in the way of a good story.
Leeds fans don't like anyone, including each other half the time. That they are struggling to identify a replacement shows what few options are avalible for clubs in our position.
Interesting to read that Gallardo turned the Leeds gig down (as did Raul), so no chance he’d have come to us. Also Nuno will cost £5.3m to get out of his contract with Al-Ittihad, so you can see how we’ve settled on Marsch.
I don't think that makes sense. Surely we should be giving him next year as well - if he keeps us up, man he deserves it, if the seemingly inevitable happens, I don't want to dump him for a "championship style manager" at all.
