Goal-shy QPR target Blackburn's Roberts as Warnock tells the board to get more strikers

    By Sportsmail Reporter
Last updated at 12:51 PM on 8th November 2011

Queens Park Rangers are plotting a January move for Blackburn striker Jason Roberts.

Loftus Road boss Neil Warnock has put a new forward at the top of his New Years shopping list.

And Roberts is a shock name on his list of candidates to add more firepower to his squad as Rangers look to stay in the Barclays Premier League.

Wanted by Warnock: Blackburn Rovers' Jason Roberts could join QPR

Roberts, 33, is out-of-contract at Ewood Park at the end of the season and is yet to agree an extension.

And QPR are keeping a close eye on his contract situation as they plot a cut-price move at the turn of the year.

Fulham striker Andy Johnson is also on high on Warnock’s shopping list.

After TF's interview yesterday, every single player we will be linked with between now and the end of January will be 'top of the list'. It's agent-speek for 'better than he looks'.

    Get used to it, guys.

I wouldn't mind Johnson thouogh - he's very useful, and I'd love him to get a plus goal tally for us this year, seeing as he's starting on minus three.... :(

Would have loved him a year ago but I'd like to think we're setting our sights a big higher now.

He looked pretty good against us for Blackburn. But he's no better than what we already have. I'd like to see Defoe and Zamora lead our line (but its not going to happen).
I'd like to see a central defender at the top of the wanted list (Bassong?) as well as cover at full back and a defensive midfielder.

Agreed. No better than what we already have. I'd sooner have Zamora, Johnson or Defoe.

Last 24 hours I've seen us linked with Defoe, Pav, the Juve guy, Anelka, Zamora, Johnson and now Roberts (no thanks by the way). Believe nothing until it happens, unless we plan to play 2-2-6
