So it's the dawn of a new era as Southampton face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge while currently in pursuit of yet another new manager. As things stand Rubén Sellés will be taking charge of the Saints, in what will be his second game. Having drawn 1-1 against Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup in November(progressing on penalties) When we last played Chelsea, we absolutely smashed them a new one, contributing to Thomas Tuchel getting sacked. Ex Saint Graham Potter has come in and Potter is now under a bit of pressure himself and we have the chance to do the double double over them, 2 wins contributing to 2 sackings! There is talk of Sellés himself, Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney, Marsch and others but Potter could equally be in the frame if we can beat Chelsea again. Lose to the worst team in the league and Toddy B may well use his BB gun to fire Potter. Yeehaw! Whatever happens let's just get behind the team for the rest of the season. Maybe we can buck the trend of having 3 managers in one season, along with the tallest striker in the league and going down as the worst team in the league! I've got a feeling that we can do it, now let's see what the 3rd act brings! We Marsch on?
Just 1 premier league victory this year, couldn't win a raffle if the only team in it, new players still to bed in, still unsure of the best line up, fan unrest, lack of goals. Anyway, enough about Chelsea, We will smash em. COYR
If Southampton play like they did first 60minutes against Wolves I can see there being some good opportunities to get a couple of goals Against Chelseas high press.
Bazza Brie DCC Sally Sue Perraud Lavia Edozie JWP Sulemana Onuachu Mara Ave it! COYR. Edit: added Mara. We want to be front footed and aggressive.
10 players means its a free hit and we've got nothing to lose. Or something. One of the great lessons Europe's greatest manager has taught us.
McCarthy Kwp ABk DCC Perraud JWP Lavia Alcaraz Edozie Paul Sulemana ^ I personally think this team is by far our strongest.
Something tells me that we're going to see this comment every time a player is sent off for the next, I don't know, three decades. (And I'll find it funny every single time)
Chelsea go to Dortmund on Wednesday night in the Champions League. I always think that is a positive when a big club has a European game before playing us on the weekend, but not sure it ever actually helps!
Baz Bree DCC Sally Perraud JWP Lavia Alcaraz Sulemana Paul Orsic I suspect Stu and KWP aren’t fit enough to start yet. Get them on after 60mins Edozie to come on as a disruptor when appropriate
Team I'd go for too, If stuey and KWP were fully fit though they'd both be starting ahead of Bree and Alcaraz for me.
I think they may have had a European match after our last match with them, so would have had 1 eye on each match. Same thing this time but the other way round, could work in our favour!
Baz KWP DCC Sally Perraud JWP Lavia Alcaraz Sulemana Paul Edozie KWP trained yesterday so hopefully he is fit for the weekend. Orsic has been woeful so far so depends on if he gets up to speed.
