Give this a watch if you'd like a little insight in how Marsch manages and his philosophy.

I'm not 100% he does, though there are elements of his style that would suit us. His biggest fixation, similar to Bielsa, is turning changes in possession into immediate attacks, something that fits well with many of our acquisitions. The thought of pressing high and looking to quickly release Sulemana is pretty exciting.

    *Not Oneachu however.

A few hours ago I left this place with everyone complaining about Marsch and now I’ve come back and everyone is all for it. I swear this place is ripe for some kind of psychological analysis.

The one thing I think doesn't suit Marsch is Onuachu... Mara I imagine would be more his cuppa tea.

Yeah, I know we don't like #stats around here these days, but Mara had some of the better pressure stats in France last year, too. Marsch's style is big on making runs behind and playing throughballs, and I could see him going with something like Edozie/Orsic on the left, Sulemana on the right, Mara up top and Alcaraz in the 10 role.

Onuachu does give us a brute force option if teams are sitting back against us, though.

I think (and hear) that SR are talking to juric.
The most important thing is that the bus conductor has been ejected without a ticket.

Yeah, I don't think Onuachu is Carillo-esque but there are some parallels for sure.

I agree I think a player like JWP needs to play next to Lavia if we are to have control I'm midfield.

Ralph's tactics were never the problem for me. It was more just his man-management, in-game management, and team selections. If Marsch is better at these, then I'm all for giving him a chance. Anyone writing off a manager after one season of experience in the toughest league in the world, needs to be a bit more realistic, especially given the fact that we are as good as relegated.

It’s not the lack of experience, it’s the fact he was sacked *checks watch* 6 days ago by a team in a better position than us.

So much unnecessary pressure to put on the entire club. If he loses his first two games what reason on Earth is there gonna be for the fans to back him? It’ll just be another clusterfuck and we will be here in 3 weeks wondering what the hell SR are doing and why they got him in the first place. Because if they get him and he loses 4/5 and draws the other it won’t just be Marsch getting hounded out, it’ll be SR too and the stink from this season won’t wash off anytime soon.

In any business, not even just sport it would be a questionable desicion to get some who was sacked just a week before. It must be in the top 3 quickest turn arounds for a manager in football history.

We wanted to get rid of Jones because we are a laughing stock, those people are gonna laugh 5x harder if we ditch one inexperienced bloke for another inexperienced bloke who was just sacked last week.

I’m dumbfounded that this place has seemingly accepted it so fast and if it happens there should be zero complaining from this place from now till the end of the season.

We're currently bottom of the table, and deserve to be. If we lose our next two matches, people are going to laugh at us regardless of who is in charge (and we'll also have next to no chance of avoiding relegation). So why make a choice on that basis?

I'm not necessarily convinced that Marsch will do well. However, he plays a style that fits well with our personnel, and with which we have had success in the past. It's also a high-variance style -- Marsch's Leeds ran hot and cold -- and right now variance is our friend. We need to take risks and hope for a hot streak.

So who do you think we should go for, that is realistically going to be willing to come in? Because it is probably only the likes of Gerrard and Lampard. And your whole argument is just as applicable - if not more so - to them.

Koeman had a win rate of 47% with us. Best manager we ever had in that regard.

Those that are anti-marsch because he was just fired by a team in a better position than us seem to be overlooking that fact that HE GOT THEM INTO A BETTER POSITION THAN US <laugh>

There’s other risks out there that won’t bring with them the dark cloud that Marsch will. If we do lose our next two games then the fan base will be a lot less toxic towards another manager than they will with Marsch. Because as soon as things start even looking like going wrong, so many fans, no doubt including many from here, will be posting things like “well what did you expect when you hire the guy who was sacked just a few weeks ago” and “ who could have thought that the guy who couldn’t hack it in the premier league in February, couldn’t magically hack it with a worse team in March”.

At least with literally anyone else (other than Stevie G) they’ll get a bit of a grace period where we can say they at least went for someone new with new ideas.

Also I can’t believe how many times I’ve read on here on Marsch “suits our style of play” as if we’ve had a “style” for the last few damn years. If any Saints fan could tell me what are style is based on the last year and a half or even longer I’d love some examples. Because our style changes every 3/4 games and that’s when there is an actual style and not just cooked **** on a football pitch.
