I have to be honest and say the interviewer was a bit poor in my opinion. Use the word grim and you are going to antagonise. Hardly professional journalism in my opinion, and hardly a professional response. Maybe the journo wanted his hour of internet fame. One of those tasteless episodes that in my oponion doesnt help anyone.
Personally I'm tired of journalists ignoring elephants in rooms and being frightened to ask relevant questions. Everyone in the SOL would've asked the same as question number one, even the Reading supporters. Ince would claim to love the game but that was shameful yesterday, much more than a reporter asking a few questions. What Ince did was totally against everything good about football which is supposed to be an entertainment ... ... he defrauded his own travelling supporters and almost thirty odd thousand of ours. He got everything he deserved imo.
Agreed, it'd be better if journalists had the stones to ask difficult questions and not just gently toss underarm softballs that tell nobody anything. As you say they should be asking the questions that supporters want answered otherwise what's the point in the whole process. We need more Jeffs.
They're ridiculously highly paid employees of the club and surely answerable to their own supporters if no one else. It'll be interesting to see if the Reading local media pick up on the comments and dare to ask Ince
Jeff is Sunderland through and through and lucky enough to be in a position to ask the questions that he did,he’s not normally as to the point as that tho good on him I’m away at work so didn’t see the game but it must have been a poor Reading display to push him in that direction, if he turns out Tuesday for QPR I’ll make enquiries
I dont think the journalist meant to antagonize him, Ince was clearly frustrated and maybes took his eye off the ball abit in the way he responded.
He probably should take note when even some of their fans were saying it was right to be asked. Imagine watching that every week man.
One of those “players” I always thought would make a great manager. Shows how far from the truth my thoughts can be really!
Bang average manager with a massive chip on his shoulder because he wasn't handed a big job on a plate. Has since proved he didn't deserve one. Plays the race card to cover his shortcomings at every possible opportunity.
Never liked him, little man syndrome who calls himself the 'Guvnor'. Not even the guvnor in his home. His missus calls the shots... Debbie iirc. Probably the reason his son plays for them too. Imo.
Fair enough mate. I am obviously in a minority of 1 so hold my hands up that I have probably judged it wrong. I just thought the wording and bringing neutrals into it off kilter a bit. Tell Jeff I still love him
You have a point though to a degree. He could have started off the interview asking him an open question about what he wanted to achieve with the tactics deployed...and then gone in for the kill. Or he could have asked him if he thought Reading were good value for money and if he thought the Reading fans would have enjoyed the performance. Better than telling him it was grim straight out maybe?
Make that 2, if any little man sydrome was on show, in that interview, it wasnt from Paul Ince . He played his hand with the cards he had been dealt, under pressure all afternoon ,and failed at the death, We should leave kicking men when they are down to Millwall they are much better at it than us.
