We were like a high performance car that wasn't working properly as there was an issue with the fuel pump. We bring in someone that was good working with go-karts and he ****ed up the problem entirely. I believe he gave 100% of his time and energy to fix us. He just wasn't good enough. I genuinely wish NJ the best for the future.
That can't be right. He didn't do well in a very difficult job despite obviously putting his absolute all into it.... we have to hate him and call him a twat despite not knowing a thing about him!
I don’t wish him well. Deluded, lying rat of a man. I have no respect for anyone that blames others for their own (very obvious) failings. Good riddance and I hope he never comes back to st Mary’s.
Wonder if there was a probationary period? In that case he might not have had more than a month’s pay in lieu
So we were tracking him for 18 months. Talking to him for 6 weeks (poor Ralph, he didn't need to be **** on like that) and they still thought he was a good fit? Insane.
If previous suggestions are correct, he looked at Jones for the Brentford job before Thomas Frank was appointed. Then when he next needed to appoint the option of Jones was still there so he went for him The BIG difference here is Frank was appointed to a Championship side in a fairly stable position with a view to building to the playoffs. Jones may well have fitted that bill and even have succeeded in it, we'll never know. But the job he came into here was very different We were not set up for that, not set up for the 'give him time and his methods will bear fruit' approach. I think Rasmus had always liked him from before and wanted to prove to himself he was right previously to consider NJ. And whilst he may well have been at Brentford, he absolutely wasn't this time around at Saints.
So, its over. Bittersweet and joyless given where we have arrived at. We have a midtable squad and are rooted to the bottom. Thanks for nothing Jones.
Might have been asked, but out of interest, does anyone know how much Nathan Jones cost us in total? Given we paid £3m to Luton for him, and presumably have paid off his contract.
Totally baseless gossip, but I note that there is a private jet from Zagreb landing at Southampton this morning. The Croatian delegation arriving back in Southampton to celebrate Jones banishment?
This is rather brilliant. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...premier-league-history?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
That was a joy to read, even as a long-suffering Saints fan. Some real gems in there: “Farewell Nathan Jones. You claimed after losing to 10-man Wolves that teams often improve after an early dismissal, and the Southampton board followed your advice.” Genius.
Give this a watch, and it just screams Nathan Jones has no clue and literally gives off that Insecure vibe. I should ads that the NJ talk starts at 40.36.
Just wasn’t comfortable managing premier league players. He was insecure wasn’t he. Strange strange decision we made there.
There's nothing wrong with being insecure. At least, that's what everyone I've asked has told me, several times
