Some upward trajectory for the lad the last 14 months or so. Expected him to go back out on loan after the covid fortnight, instead the lad ended up our first choice. Fingers crossed he stays for a while and gets to play in the Premier league with us!
The article says he’s valued at around £10m. I don’t want to get into whether we should sell him for that or not, but just to point out it’s some incredible turnaround from returning from loan at Notts County more or less this time last year.
Grabbed his chance with both hands, the lad has improved so much. Most wouldn't have been too shocked to see us bring in a first choice in the summer but the club stuck with him and he has improved to the point he is easily good enough for this level!
I love his coolness personified reaction to saves, the Fulham first leg when he scooped up the deflected shot off Ballard comes to mind. Most of us would be smiling and fist bumping with Ballard, nah, not patto, not fazed in the slightest. Great pro for one so young.
I reckon they'll be a lot of club sniffing around him come the summer, the lad just gets better and better
1st Jan 2016 - Pickford recalled from loan at Preston 16th June 2017 - Pickford signs for Everton for £30m I can see Patterson following a similar path
I don't see that amount as I don't see Patto as the level of Pickford. Distribution is significantly lower and lots of the bigger teams look for this. Patto has progressed great though. Still room to improve but is doing well
Pickford was proven in the premier league so Patterson has a way to go to be able to “command” such a large fee. But my point was purely that his improvement is rapid and who knows where he could be in 12 months. Especially if he does go to the euros and plays and does well.
Yeah I don't think he's at Pickfords level but his trajectory is upward and things can escalate quickly in the world of transfers.
From memory I'd probably say that Patterson is better now than Pickford was at the same age. Unlike Pickford I don't think his kicking will ever be anything special and that's not unimportant but in terms of shot stopping and other basics there's not much in it and I much prefer Patterson's temperament. Pickford was always a bit eccentric and made me nervous at times.
Agree. Think he’s a better keeper at that age, pickford’s distribution was better mind. Think that’s the main weak point if his game
If Patto was a lot more vocal and commanded his area at set pieces he would be another Pickford, He still has a bit to go, but he is going on the right direction
